After few days visiting Albania for the first time, Dhermi and Ksamil, my conclusion is that the place to go is Dhermi. Very nice beach, sea really clean and transparent and fully organised. This was an amazing little town perched on a steep hill overlooking the sea that was complete with a plaza and refreshments café with a stunning view. Probably the essence of what Americans think of when they think of a charming, rural, European location. The town itself was good for walking and short hikes, like ascending the upper parts of the town to the church with an even more excellent view than the plaza and café below. Furthermore, the beach, which is a 40-minute walk and 200 meter elevation change, is surprisingly nice and not too big nor too small. As someone who likes to travel, I only spent a very limited time in Dhërmi. The old town with its traditional houses was beautifully built against the steep mountainsides. I enjoyed strolling through the streets. I was there at the end of May and it was still very quiet on the beach. Judging from the preparations on the beach, I think it must be very busy in the summer months. Too busy for me. Other holidaymakers might like it. Beautiful old seaside village on the Albanian Riviera, with buildings built into the mountainside, stunning beaches (best in the country) and hiking trails, a superb bakery (Nico's) and grill (Genti) up the hill, incredible natural wonders like hundreds of nesting swallows, wild olive groves, herbs and hibiscus vines, great beachfront bars and restaurants, and a precious mix of old Greek-speakers and young Albanians. Nice welcoming at reception starting from checking and up to last minute at check out, high quality of food selection and service at restaurant, shuttle to the beach was really helpful. They were really nice to allow us to use the private beach all day after check out. Hotel is located in quite area surrounded by trees, room was clean up to details and all facilities are described as on booking.
