beach area is a fabulous location for families. The water is very calm without big waves coming in. Staying at a hotel you shouldn't have a problem getting a lounger, but most of the beach belongs to hotels so there isn't as much space for those coming in for a day trip. The water was perfect and warm and plenty of places to get good food along the waterfront or to pick up basics at a market if you're cooking in. I love shopping at the outdoor clothing stalls, and the fresh air market. I love walking along the port and eating in the restaurants there, I never go to the beach area because I live near a beach at home. I love the city vibes, I love all the Italian places that serve amazing seafood, and pizza, I love the local food. Great beach for swimming, playing on the sand and sunbathing. Nice collection of bars and restaurants nearby. We went before the season was in full swing - so no sunbeds and crowds. Apparently becomes very busy during summer months. Built up area behind the beach is not so pretty - a couple of nights would be enough. Did not spend much time exploring the old part of the town. Absolutely a perfect stay! This cozy and familiar apartment in Golem, Durrës exceeded all expectations. The place was spotless—immaculately clean and well-maintained, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. The sea view from the balcony was breathtaking, the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee or evening breeze. But what truly made the experience special was the host—so welcoming, friendly, and always available for anything we needed. It’s rare to find such a warm atmosphere and attention to detail. Perfect destination, close to a lot of things like the beach, restaurants, hotels. For my last night, I booked Hotel Vila One because Durrës is near the airport. Vila One really made a difference compared to other hotels. It is clean, modern, and especially notable for the rooftop restaurant where the food was excellent. Mario looked about everything, was very helpful, as a local gave us a lot of advice , service and provided knowledge about Albania . Downstairs they sell the best coffee in a cosy atmosphere . Hotel itself is pretty close to the beach, always clean and a balkony in our room was perfectly situated. Many shops around, rollercoasters and pub with darts/billiard.
