Very cute and cozy room with amazing mountain view.
Jasper sits in a green valley within a national park surrounded by the majestic Canadian Rockies. Water in its various forms has shaped the dramatic scenery and continues to create serene landscapes.
Tree-lined Lake Beauvert is the closest to town, but Pyramid and Patricia lakes are more famous thanks to the rugged peaks perfectly reflected in their still waters. Arguably the best of all is Maligne Lake whose incredible water colour is eclipsed by small, pine-lined Spirit Island. You may not know the name, but you’ll probably recognise the view.
Many glaciers come off the huge Columbia Icefield, roughly midway between Jasper and Lake Louise. Some have cut canyons where you can go ice walking. Other winter sports include ice skating and skiing at the Marmot Basin resort, named after local animals.
Bears inhabit the surrounding forests and more wildlife lives at The Den at Whistler Inn, just one Jasper accommodation option on Booking.com alongside mountain lodges and pet-friendly hotels with pools.
The Jasper Tramway – Canada’s highest cable car – goes to the top of The Whistlers mountain, and on the slopes of another are the Miette Hot Springs open-air pool. The Jasper-Yellowhead Museum details the area’s history, and traditional Haida styles and colours are celebrated in the modern Two Brothers Totem Pole
Jasper has been ravaged by the wildfires in 2024. Reconstruction is well underway in the township, however thousands of hectares of forests are decimated. It is a stark reminder that nature rules. Definitely worth a visit to show support for the local community as they rebuild.
It is very easy to walk round Jasper in a couple of hours. The terrain is flat with wide sidewalks suitable for less able visitors. There are plenty of coffee shops and gift shops although these do become repetitive.

Jasper is a lovely town, easy to walk around the main area of the town. with great places to eat and drink, but it is very sad when doing walks in the area to see the burnt out forests surrounding the town. Good that most of the National Park is open again and pleased to be able to visit.

visited in April 2025 for a run. Weather was lovely and warm. Town was not busy except for the runners. Restaurants were great. We wandered around town and found it lovely. Only there a short time so unable to take in many of the hikes and scenic drives. We walked all over the town along the main road and other streets. Loved all the shops. There is a very interesting history walk near the Information centre that is worth seeing.

In late May it was quiet and easy to move around, but the parking, even off the main drags was too expensive for that time of year. Be ready to pay, or ready to walk a fair distance from the few free lots on the outskirts.

Jasper has undergone a dramatic wildfire from 2024, and the community is recovering. But still come visit, the seed of that lovely mountain community is still there. They need to have tourist to regrow and thrive.

Amazing wildlife and natural scenery, and opportunity to view them without the massive crowds of Banff and Lake Louise.
Best coin laundry i've ever seen/used (Coin Clean Laundry).
Wouldn't recommend Earls, if you like eating at restaurants with high customer service standards.
If self-catering, expect to pay more, and have less selection, than you would in nearby towns like Hinton.

Having rescheduled a visit to Jasper a little over two months since the fire, this was always going to be much stranger than in the past. However, my stay was everything I wanted and the hotel felt very much an independently run one as opposed to the numerous chains I had used over the last few weeks. Check in was straight forward. My room was two Queen sized beds and comfortably furnished. Coffee machine and everything in the bathroom was in good condition.
Could not recommend this place enough! Such great value for money, the rooms we're super clean. Bed soooo comfy, very quiet at night I had an amazing sleep. Shower very powerful.
The staff were great and welcoming. Also a very short walk into Jasper down a lovely street so felt very safe as a woman being in the area.
I also had to take a work call on Zoom and the wifi was great! Better than the city centre wifi in hotels I've been used to using
Staff were absolutely amazing, were always happy to help and even offered local sight seeing so helped us plan what we could do there! The hotel is in a perfect location, other food locations, fuel and shops. 17 min walk from jasper Town too. Hotel is very clean. A lot of car parking areas. Great indoor swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi. The restaurant attached was very nice and good for price.
This is a really nice hostel , mixed age group which is good for older travellers. Very central to downtown Jasper . Cheap and cheerful . Staff really friendly and accommodating allowed me to leave bags very early in the morning of my arrival prior to check in .
Location was good. I went for a trail run and climbed directly onto trails to the back of the hotel. Possibly a good choice for coach parties. Easy walking access to Jasper
