We arrived early, and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Thank you, we were really tired. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a big tv. The pool and whirlpool were lovely to help two travellers unwind and relax.

Nice rooms, very clean and spacious. Nice beds. Staff was good too. The breakfast spread, though it didn't have bread, had some nice options and was filling. We stayed only for a night, and got good value for money.
Located in Vancouver’s Harbour City, The Spot offers free WiFi and is within walking distance to a coin-operated launderette. This property is a 1.5 km drive from Nanaimo city centre.

I participated in the Elwood Wylie Memorial Track and Field Meet at the Rotary Bowl for 2 full days. I needed a quiet and comfortable place to stay. The Pub below was quite loud at night but I could still sleep.

Getting around was easy.
Getting around was easy. We ate at O'Bryan's and The View- both highly recommend. We went to Duncan, people were friendly and full of information. Visited Qualicum beach and Pipers Lagoon - beautiful.

Nanaimo is ok but there are much nicer places to stay on Vancouver Island. There is a lot of homelessness and not as much to do here as elsewhere. It was a rest stop before an early ferry.
We had a nice meal at The View and got to try the famous Nanimo bar from Red's but we liked Campbell River a lot more.

The list is endless for hikes and beaches around Nanaimo.
The list is endless for hikes and beaches around Nanaimo. They have many great restaurants. We have not found a big supply of hotels in the downtown area that we love, but there are some average ones. Fun and relaxing town!

There are some seedy sections of Nanaimo.
There are some seedy sections of Nanaimo. Rough areas to avoid.
We did find a rejuvinated section of the city which was beautifil with cute shops and restaurants. Lights strung at night. We dined there at an absolutely lovely greek restaurant called Asteras. Anyone visiting Nanimo needs to go there! We had the feeling of being in a different country. Excellent food & service!

I live near Nanaimo. Why would one come to Nanaimo?
I live near Nanaimo. Why would one come to Nanaimo? We do for the shopping. Maybe to the inner harbour and walk the boardwalk, have lunch, go whale watching or take a scenic float plane ride. More likely Nanaimo is just a starting point to visiting elsewhere on the island. The island is mainly about the outdoors.

Darlene is a super host! She is so warm, friendly and overall great. We felt right at home. The bedroom was cozy and clean and the ocean view was superior. Breakfast was very delicious and definitely made with love :)
The beach is only a 5 min walk away and the whole resident area was super safe and really beautiful!
Staying here is a must if you are staying in Nanaimo!!
Nice, sparkling clean, modern hotel in Nanaimo’s historic Old City Quarter shopping area and a short walk to more amenities downtown. Great restaurant in the hotel (The Breakfast Nook) and close to several other nice restaurants (White Rabbit, Black Rabbit and Le Brunch Cafe).
The Staff was excellent , the Room was clean and the toiletries were more than adequate. Room service is every 2 days which is good. In addition , the hotel is very close to nanaimo port and nanaimo parks which is great.
The staff were super friendly (the lady at breakfast was especially lovely) - best cheaper hotel we stayed in over 3 weeks having stayed in everything from Fairmont's etc over 3 weeks.
