Amazing palace which is a proper hotel- can be compared to the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai. Lovely lounge with live piano in afternoons, heated pool, steam and sauna, excellent adn well equipped room with a superb view on two sides.
The breakfast was a real treat with top notch quality, service and luxury exuding throughout the hotel.
The gardens outside with the garden cafe was lovely each evening.

I loved the hospitality of the Hotel Team. The Hotel advertises itself as "Ferien unter Freunden" ("Holidays among friends") and they really deliver on this promise.

Pontresina is a pretty little town and so much nicer, more picturesque and less expensive than say, St Moritz, unless you are after the glamour and „status“ that comes with mixing with the jet-setters there. The main reason we have always stayed here though is the central location with easy access to and from anywhere in the Engadine and its attractive side valleys.
Come here for nature and outdoor activities, not for shopping or night life 🙂

We stayed in Pontresina for 5 nights in early October.
We stayed in Pontresina for 5 nights in early October. It is a charming town. We arrived by train, and Pontresina makes an excellent place to stay if you want to experience the Bernina Express train journey.
The railway station is within walking distance of most of the accommodation, but it would be a struggle with luggage. Our hotel had its own vehicle for transfers, I think most hotels offer the same.
When we were there (early October) most of the other travellers were Swiss. While there were plenty of options in terms of restaurants, most visitors were outdoor/ nature loving folk who went for a quiet meal in the evening and then got a good night’s sleep. So the town was very quiet at night, which suited us perfectly.
A pass for local transport: trains/ busses/ furnicular railways/ cable cars was included in our hotel tarrif, and this was fabulous. From Pontresina we walked to St Moritz one day and enjoyed the St Moritz cable car, then returned to Pontresina by bus. On another day we caught the train Bernina Diavolezza and the cable car to view the Morteratsch Glacier. We used the “Komoot” app to find other hikes.

I love everything about Pontresina, the lovely village, the options for excursions and hiking, the views, the nice cafés & tearooms, the museum, music in Taiswald, the Bellavita swimming pools & sauna world, free of charge public transport, the weekly market Laret, cultural program, friendly people especially if one speaks the dialect or Romantsch..., the list is endless.

It was a starting point for the cross country ski race.
It was a starting point for the cross country ski race. It is easily accesible by train which is a big plus. There was a place to spent some time before start. It is also a nice starting point for many cross country ski routes in Engadin.

Pontresina is just one of many pretty villages in the upper Engadine, which is among our favourite places in Switzerland because of its elevation, climate, sights and attractions. It is not as touristy and overbuilt as St Moritz, yet has all the amenities to make for a pleasant stay: choice of accommodations and restaurants, coffee shops, retail, guides and outfitters, etc.
It is centrally located with easy access to the valleys of Pushlav, Bergell or the lower Engadine by car or public transport. A great place for those who love nature, mountains, beautiful scenery, amazing outings by rail or post bus, superb fall colours, hiking and mountaineering in summer or skiing in winter. Numerous chairlifts, cable cars and mountain railways in the region offer easy access to spectacular views of the southern alps.

Lovely cosy hotel - particularly the bar area with fireplace. Complimentary on demand pick up and drop off service from station was much appreciated. Great food (we enjoyed a delicious dinner and breakfast). Friendly and helpful concierge staff. Thoughtful touches like providing bars of chocolate on check out. Pretty and scenic little town. We really enjoyed our stay
We stayed in the family lodge. It was superb for us. We have two teen boys, so the space was great. The hotel were fantastic, they picked us up and dropped us off at the train station.
Pontresina is lovely. We did the horse ride and walked back from Val Roseg. We took the train to St. Moritz. Ideal location for us.
We enjoyed the welcome drinks too.
Lovely hotel with really knowledgeable and friendly staff. Loved the Endagin travel pass. Very nice breakfast with lots of choice. Room was quiet, spacious and spotless. We drink tea rather than coffee and a kettle was provided on request. Heated outdoor pool with fantastic mountain view was also great.
The location is everything. It is an incredible experience! Do try to get a room with a view. Staff kept the kitchen open especially for us. It is not a luxury hotel, rather simple, but who needs that when you can sleep alone (almost) on a Gletscher (disappearing)!
Just amazing!
Magical Hotel, with stunning views, a spectacular lobby, cozy bar, wonderful dining room, the beautiful outdoors pavillon, lovely spa and very helpful and courteous staff!
