El Establo is nicely decorated and very comfortable, the rooms have lots of space and everything needed to recharge after a day of hiking and exploring the area and national park. The breakfast is simple but sufficient, and the staff at the hosteria very friendly and accommodating. Their help made all the difference!

Unusual and beautiful architectural building complex. Great views of Lake. Comfortable beds. WiFi terrible in room. Only able to use WiFi in common areas which had comfortable seating. Needs covered access to swimming pool given the weather conditions being cold and windy most of the time. Virtually no one dared venture outside to use the building with the pool. Quite a pity. We paid half board and were delighted with the 3 course dining options available every night which included a glass of wine. Would have been nice to have a small fridge and tea/coffee making in room. Lighting in bathroom very poor. A bit of a walk into town. We paid extra for packed lunches for one of our tours. Not bad.

We loved strolling along the waterfront in Puerto Natales,...

We loved strolling along the waterfront in Puerto Natales, taking in the stunning mountain and fjord views - especially beautiful at sunset. The town center was charming, full of cozy shops and local crafts. Getting around was easy since Puerto Natales is small and very walkable, so you don’t really need a car unless you’re heading out to Torres del Paine. Our trip was packed with unforgettable experiences. We tackled the challenging but rewarding hike to the base of the Torres del Paine, where the towering granite spires and turquoise glacial lake left us speechless. We also enjoyed the Tour Lago Grey, about 104 km from town, where we got close to the impressive Grey Glacier and admired the iconic Cuernos del Paine. A visit to the Cueva del Milodón Natural Monument, located roughly 26 km north of Puerto Natales, gave us a fascinating glimpse into the region’s ancient past. For meals, we savored local flavors at Mesita Grande, where we tried guanaco meat cooked in traditional style. We stocked up on groceries at Unimarc Puerto Natales and Frutería La Sureña, which had everything we needed. To explore the area comfortably and at our own pace, we rented a Toyota Rush, a 7-seater SUV, from EMSA Rent A Car Avis sublicense for four days (10–14 April 2025), paying a total of 354,000 CLP. Over the course of our trip, we drove about 900 km, which gave us great flexibility. We also took an easy and affordable bus transfer from Puerto Natales Rodoviario station to Punta Arenas Terminal Bus-Sur.

Apart from being the start point for Torres del Paine Park, Puerto Natales has a great Municipal Museum ( very well curated in English as well as Spanish) and v good 'industrial museum' located in the Singular Hotel (5km along fiord from town). Singular is upmarket hotel with good coffee and light snacks - they refund the 5000 peso/person museum entrance fee if any money spent in restaurant/cafe - well worth it.

    Nice town to walk around.

Nice town to walk around. Lots of shops, although not all open, despite it being summer. Lots of cafes and restaurants to choose from. Good bus service to N/P and services to other cities. Clean place. Get fed up with the barking stray gods roaming around.

Central Puerto Natales is relatively compact city with clean even wide sidewalks an well paved streets. The several plazas are inviting and well maintained. There are a wide variety and abundance of restaurants, cafes and snack vendors. Multiple tour companies provide a good choice of tourist activities and car rental is easy and relatively inexpensive. The biggest drawback in the lack of gas stations in or near the park or in Cerro Castillo. A variety of tourist markets provide plenty of souvenir opportunities. Our stay at Hostal Nancy was perfect. Andrea, the proprietor, was most friendly and helpful. The room and private bath while simple was clean, commodious and was very reasonable cost. I especially liked Last Hope Distillery, the tour, the bar and their Calefate Gin.

There are lots of trips to Torres del Paine from Puerto Natales. We visited during a busy period, so didn't manage to get booked in for all the activities we wanted. But there are certainly plenty of things to choose from here. A lot of places had restriced hours, so we missed visiting the museum as it was closed. Maybe we should have picked a different time of year. But Torres del Paine is a spectacular National Park and Puerto Natales is a safe and friendly town.

    The town is really cute.

The town is really cute. It isn't busy or huge like a city, it is a quaint waterside town. There are many really great restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, outdoor clothes stores, bars, and some souvenir stores. The town is located on the water with great walking paths and views. There are outdoor tour/excursion companies. Many pick up at the hotels/hostels in the area.

Franco is very helpful with advice. Staff are friendly and will try to help, even though not everyone speaks English. A little Google Translate went a long way. Quick laundry service. Close proximity to some great food, especially Alveoli Bakery nearby. Quiet units that are very large. Great shower. All the amenities and utensils you will need for a trip to Puerto Natales, which you are probably using as a base for activities around Torres del Paine.

The location is very good. It nears the bus terminal, which is important if you go to Puerto Natales for the Torre del Paine National Park. Within 5 minutes distance one can find good cafes and restaurants, 10 minutes to the downtown and the sea. The reception people are very friendly and helpful. They provide big locker for at least two backpack size with reasonable fee. Also they offer walking poles to borrow (for free)!

    * It is 3 star hotel, but much better than so called 4 star hotel "Hotel Martín Gusinde". When I checked available hotels at Puerto Natales, I feel Bookings gave high priority to Hotel Martín Gusinde. It may cause misleading and it is not good. * Room size are decent, facilities are good, water station on each floor. * Location is excellent. Magnificent view from room and dining room

The owner, Daniel, is a lovely guy, with good English, and very helpful. He is clearly keen on DIY and building and I get the feeling he has constructed much of the property and furnishings himself. The location is near to the bus station and close to town. It is one of the least-expensive hostels in town.
