The airport is easy to reach, taking only 5 minutes to arrive and 10 minutes to leave. The pool is small but cozy. Each day, they offer a different breakfast menu, and the room is kept impeccable every day. There is some noise from the airport, but it's not concerning. The view from the balcony is stunning.

FAQs about hotels in Cartagena de Indias

Caribbean History, Colour and Soul

Colourful and historic, modern and colonial, local and touristic, Cartagena de Indias represents one of the liveliest Colombian beach resorts. Its character mixes cultures and peoples, including natives, Spanish, African and Arab. Its rich legacy granted its Old Town the recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

When the Spanish founded the city in 1533, the region had already been inhabited for thousands of years. It became an important port for the Spanish gold and a significant political centre. Echoes of those times can be seen throughout the historic centre, in the city walls, the San Felipe de Barajas Castle, and the colourful streets and colonial squares. Some of the best hotels in Cartagena de Indias can be found here.

Proudly Caribbean, Cartagena’s soul gives the rhythm to the streets, and the music coming out of cafés and restaurants is nothing but a physical manifestation of its collective spirit. Follow the beat, get to the seaside, and have one of your best holidays. Hotels near Cartagena de Indias’ beaches will be the perfect stage.

You can reach the city flying from Bogotá El Dorado International Airport to Rafael Nuñez Airport. Don’t miss this remarkable piece of Colombia, Booking.com offers you the best hotel deals in Cartagena de Indias.

The walled city it’s the only beautiful part of town . The nearby museums and tourist sites are free at least some of them are. Catching a cab for a 1 km distance they charge too much…. You cannot walk to all its tourist. The beach is dirty and you have to pay to go to nearby beaches.

I'm happy I visited Cartagena, however, I have no desire to ever go back. This place is a stereotypical tourist trap destination but on steroids. The worst part is the constant harassment by the street vendors. Every street, every corner has dozens of them and they are very aggressive to the point of being intolerable. They open their pitch with "Where are you from?" DON'T FALL FOR IT. Ignore them, keep walking, no eye contact, and don't speak or you'll become their latest 'mark'. The city itself has litter and garbage everywhere. Ironic in contrast to all the "Eco" proclamations you'll see. There are endless overpriced restaurants, endless stores and shops all selling the same useless junk and many nightclubs. The closest analogy to Cartagena is Cabo San Lucas though Cabo is much cleaner. If all you want to do is shop, eat, and party, then this might be for you. The purpose of my trip was scuba diving in the Rosario Islands for three days and 5 days in Cartagena. I should have divided my time in reverse. I saw all the meaningful Cartagena sights in two days, including walking the wall twice. I will say three good things here and they are that I never felt unsafe walking around despite the street vendors, I did not get sick from brushing my teeth with the tap water, though I did primarily drink bottled water, and Uber is reliable, safe, and cheap. Most rides were $2-$3 and I always tipped the driver cash. My location was 2 blocks from a supermarket that has a cafe in it which was a great place to buy sandwiches, snacks, fruit, water, and beer. It gets really hot here and don't underestimate the sun's UV. Best times to go out are early morning or late afternoon. Lastly, 99% of the people here do not speak English (even if they claim they do) so be prepared if you don't know Spanish. Conclusion: glad I went, but won't go back.

Sorry, It was one bad experience after another.

Sorry, It was one bad experience after another. The people selling stuff everywhere you went was uncomfortable. I found dirty and run down. I'm glad I went, sorry I stayed. The aviary was nice, the beach in Baru(?) Was beautiful, but everything had a price, once again, the people that were selling stuff everywhere was overwhelming. Not my kind of place

it was easy to find my way around walking. people didnt smile or say thankyou when you let them pass on the narrow walk ways. They seemed unhappy. I didnt speak spanish and people were very annoyed with me and very unhelpful. I did have a translation app which saved me but it was sad people were so unhappy. Nothing you read about Colombia is true unless you just stay in the tourist bubble and tip everyone . Money makes them happy. I didnt want to stay in the tourist bubble but lived and saw people in the real world in Colombia. I would sooner give my money to those who really needed it like the men in rags and bare feet who went thru the rubbish bins each day to find anything they could sell to get a few dollars. No one outside the tourist bubble could speak or understand even hello in English. Even in my accommodation not one staff member could speak a word of English despite all my communications with them being responded to by email in perfect English. Also everything is advertised as a hotel and you get charged big bucks but arrive to find its a hostel, no windows in room, no washing machine although advertised as such etc. Photos are often of another building not the hostel.

Very hot. Lot of night life and restaurants to choose from. Island tours were disappointing as sale of cocktails we’d foremost. Time for beach was quite short. Too many boats and other water sport equipment polluting water. More suitable for young people.

We absolutely loved this hotel, during our 3 weeks travelling through Colombia it was by far the best hotel we stayed in. - the decor is lovely, very Mediterranean - all of the staff were all so attentive, kind and just couldn’t do enough for you - they made fresh juice everyday which was a really nice touch - breakfast is great - the owner, Louis was so lovely and very helpful. he spent a lot of time advising us and making sure our stay was the best it could possibly be - the terrace is beautiful, make sure you experience it!

Very good location of the hotel, in a very quite street but close to all important sites. Extremely comfortable room, big, bright, with nice balcony, extremely comfortable beds and pillows, nice bathroom, really boutique style, because the hotel has only few rooms and guests are treated like very special persons. Breakfast served personally. The hotel staff is increadibly kind and helpful and friendly. Special thanks to Mr John and Jeimy for kindest and professional service and Mrs Luisa for mouthwatering breakfast.
