It was a super fantastic Hotel comparing to Pasto Standard!!!! Great spacious rooms, super clean, great room equipment, clean bathroom, great staff and excellent location! Breakfast is Colombian standard- but it’s super nice and in my opinion enough for everyone! Restaurant quality is very high. They use filtered water so no food poisoning and your foreign stomach can relax 🥰

People are NOT FRIENDLY, bad acctitud. If you go to a restaurant even great ones you PAY FIRST and them you get your meal served.
I went to don pollo and paid first, badrooms were disgusting and the food came with roches. we left leaving the food served on the table.

Traffic in the city is very heavy, bordering on chaotic.
Traffic in the city is very heavy, bordering on chaotic. Taxis are recommended by this traveller. I would never try to drive there.
You must know Spanish, or you will be lost. A good translator app is helpful. A very nice restaurant is the Catedral Cafe, near the beautiful San Juan de Pasto Cathedral. We also enjoyed the Casona Taminango historical museum and day trips to the amazing Sanctuary of Las Lajas and the Laguna de la Cocha, where we took a boat excursion to the Isla La Corota and had the best trout ever at the Rancho Grande Restaurant.

It is a lovely city to connect with nature. Very clean has great public transportation. Best part is the people! They are friendly and helpful. There are lots of places to visit! Laguna de la Cocha, La cascada y Basílica de Sandoval, the Waterfalls hot springs! However Maragato Fall has no access! Is no longer available to public but it is on google maps as a must see.

City of about 1/2 million people with enough road for about 100,000 people, so typical Colombian traffic here. Nothing special in the way of culture (like Medellin or Bogota). For me it is a transit point that allows me to circumvent the higher price of air travel through Quito when I leave (or return to) Colombia across Rumichaca border crossing. If you stay in the Imbabura or Carchi province in Ecuador, it turns out much less expensive that going through Quito. If you are headed to Quito or points south, I'm not sure you'll ever have a reason to visit, although the scenery on the bus ride from Ipiales can be extraordinary, and better than I have gotten on many tourist bus tours. This part of the Country (Colombia) is quite beautiful and the engineering of the roads through mountainous terrain extraordinary. After a heavy rain you can see many streams and waterfalls on your way to Pasto. Best part of any trip to Pasto is getting there from the land border crossing.

The hotel, Hotel Vymar, is quite nice, especially for the money. The rooms are big and have an integrated closet and desk. The bathroom is big and the shower is surprisingly big with a rain shower head and hot water. The materials they used for the interior finish are of good quality, as well. There's also a restaurant/bar as part of the hotel.

It's a very nice hotel. The restaurant/bar are in the hotel but are a separate business so the costs are not billed to your room. The people who work at both are very nice and helpful. The room was bigger than expected and the bathroom as well. Both are well appointed. There is hot water from the rain shower head. The location is good in the center of the city just 2 blocks or so from the main plaza. Lots of restaurants and shopping in the area. It's definitely a hotel I would stay in again.
Antony speaks English, Spanish and French and Monica speaks Spanish and French so between them they are able to give great advice about activities or onwards travel. Hostel is very nice and spacious and has the best of both worlds- very close to city but feels spacious and removed from the hustle. Highly recommended
All of the rooms are big , bright and well decorated. The village is very nice and the views are fantastic. Our motorbike was carefully guarded by some lovely dogs. The owner is very friendly, and we had a few laughs, even though our spanish is not very good.
