I had a wonderful 5 days in this wonderful hotel. Very tasty food. Very polite staff. Liked literally everything. The hotel is located in the very center, all the healing springs are nearby. I'd give this place 5 stars, rather than 4. I will definitely come again.

Karlovy Vary owes its affluent grandeur to no fewer than 13 hot springs and a warm water river. Add to this its colourful façades and tree-lined hill setting, and it’s easy to see why it’s one of Europe’s most sophisticated spa towns.
The best views are from the Deer Leap and Diana Tower lookouts, both high above the Grandhotel Pupp, a famous 5-star hotel which starred as James Bond’s gambling retreat in ‘Casino Royale’. It also hosts an International Film Festival, but the city is really about the waters, a fact reflected in its English name – Carlsbad.
You can take the waters at the 5 springs under the Mill Colonnade, and the wrought-iron Market Colonnade houses 2 more. The Park Colonnade employs a similarly impressive style to protect 3 springs, while a geyser bursts up in the Hot Spring Colonnade. The Castle Tower overlooks the Castle Colonnade waters, and a thermal pool at Spa Hotel Thermal overlooks the city.
The beautiful churches of Karlovy Vary include the Russian-styled Church of St Peter and St Paul. The Moser Glassworks produce suitably high quality products, and the Jan Becher Museum provides an idea of what to fill them with – local Becherovka bitter.
Accommodation on Booking.com includes luxury hotels, city centre apartments and guest houses near Karlovy Vary Airport.
Classic (Habsburg Empire times) architecture's town-museum, unique in that sense. The old town is framed by mountains and forests, on the mountain river. Hot and warm springs are all around town. One can feel like his on a filming site, but everything is real. Excellent beer, good food, competitive prices, and hotel prices are absolute value for money.
On the negative side, the town has a heavy Soviet times legacy, mostly in its specialization in attracting tourists from Russia. As a result, the Soviet Russian culture is dominating everywhere - from adverts, small and large - in Russian as the main foreign language around the town, to hotel and restaurant staff, always speaking Russian, in some cases -German, and far less often - English. I know that the town authorities tried to switch the main tourist origin from Russians to Germans of Russian origin after the start of Russian aggression on Ukraine. They partially succeeded, but unfortunately, it didn't change the atmosphere in a beautiful town much. You can still see Russian as the dominating language around with tons of loudly speaking, hardly talking people, some with bad manners, dominating in town.
Probably, those with nostalgia for Soviet times, or who speak only Russian, will feel more comfortable here than in any other town in the EU, though.

Came for the Karlovy Vary half marathon, on a complete random pick. Was pleasantly surprised by this magical destination. If we had more times, there is great hiking to explore and fancy hotels like the Pupp to dress up and have dinner or afternoon tea.

It's a must go place.
It's a must go place. I like it so much I just wish I had more time to stay, three days are not enough. There is so many places to see and go, that a week would be maybe OK. If you go, try Císarské lázne. Visit takes about one hour with all the talking and its very interesting.

Karlovy Vary is definitely worth a trip.
Karlovy Vary is definitely worth a trip. You need to know though that the city is build along the sides of a valley - the river flows through it, and the houses and streets are then steep. If you want to go from one side to the other by car, you are likely to do a round-trip, even if the direct direction would be just opposite of you.
BE aware that entering these colonnades is NOT allowed with your dog (if you travel with one).
The water from the hot springs is drinkable (you will see MANY tourists going around with these typical flat cups where you drink from the handle), but it certainly is an aquired taste (hot, iron-taste, slightly salty, no sulfur though).
The city is best explored by foot and firm foot-wear as you are in for some hiking up and down the many stairs or steep streets that are there.
Famous things to buy are jewelry, sweets, and porcellan or crystal. BE aware though that the real deal (bohemian garnet) is very often falsivied! Ideally, you get a piece from a seller with reputation, AND a certificate!

Very charming old spa town.
Very charming old spa town. Note: the springs are for drinking the water, not bathing. There are plenty of hotels with pools and offering treatments but the famous springs themselves? they're not for swimming! The town has been receiving guests for 200 years now so the basic quality of hotels is quite good. We had nice food but it was not a highlight. Overall, lovely for a short vacation, especially for adults. (I don't think there is much for kids).

Karlovy Vary was serene and less touristy in the first half of December, exactly the way I liked it. It's a perfect location if you like architectures, hot springs and nature walks. It's a perfect location to relax, recharge and rejuvenate. It's a perfect location to splurge for a stay at one of the all-inclusive villas to be pampered. Highly recommend!

We came from Germany by car to spend the Easter weekend. This is one of the oldest 5* hotels in Karlovy vary, if not the oldest one. However well maintained, perfectly clean, with large spa area variety of saunas, pools, etc. The breakfast was perfect, nothing else to add. Small fitness also at guests disposal. Thank to all the team for the pleasant stay and hospitality. Warmly recommended!
Beautiful and quiet apartment with extremely comfortable bed and sleeping sofa. Very tasteful, Scandinavian design and good quality materials - massive wood on bed and doors and good quality towels. Excellent location just in the middle of the town with good proximity to public transport and right next yo the best spa resort - Saunia in hotel Thermal. Very good communication with the staff.
The best vacation ever!!!, beautiful hotel, extremely nice, polite & helpful staff.
The room was well equipped, very clean!!!.
The bed was very comfortable.
Breakfast was awesome, variety and creative dishes.
Spa area was quiet and clean. 10/10!!!
Not the 5 stars, but the history behind these stars which brings you in a long gone glamurous and stylished world. We tasted a little bit of this while staying there, so thank you Grandhotel Pupp! PS The spa is a must 😊
Location is best point for this hotel. Room has plenty of space. Breakfast was good but there could be some questions about freshness of the served meals.
