I like this town. The surroundings are pleasant. The town is small and green. There are many parks. Not very noisy. Nice and quiet. There are enough shops. Cafes have nice prices and tasty food. We went for the Wagner-Festspiel, so it's simple: Bayreuth is the only place. It's a little out of the way for air or train travel, so we chose to drive from Berlin. Having a car was convenient, as our apartment was a few Km out of town. The baroque opera house is lovely and certainly worth a visit. \The Margrave New Palace and park. Also the Hermitage, on the outskirts of Bayreuth. The Wagner museum is a sort of must, but if possible, check the times of guided tours to the Steingaertner Piano factory. Bayreuth was a pleasantly relaxing place with plenty to see, both in the city and nature. There are several nice parks, as well as a lovely botanical garden. I was a bit surprised at the Ermitage, as it stands out significantly from other European palaces. We found a delightful mexican restautant, Enchilada. We went a few times in our stay.
