Javea has something for everyone. There is the old town on the hill, the port with its marina and pebbly beach and the Arenal with the sandy beach. We love the festivals here, how easy it is to get around and park with a car and all the day trips that can be done front here. The large expat communities also means you can shop for food from home easily.

We stayed in the old town, lovely winding alleys, tosca (sandstone coloured) stonework rather than the usual Spanish whitewashed pueblo you see. Loads of lovely cafes and restaurants to choose from. There was a Gastronomic / Tapas route while we were there, May 2025 - Great opportunity to try out lots of different restaurants/bars. Tapas was amazing. Also, recommend the indoor market for breakfast, coffee or tapas...lovely building & great prices. Nice to walk along sea front near port and down to playa l'Arenal. Again loads of cafes restaurants and bars

We love Javea and, in fac,t, lived there for 35 years; a wonderful place to raise children. Now we are back in the UK, we travel back to Javea for holidays as often as we can - it's our happy place! It's a beautiful little town, a great place to slow down, enjoy the weather and have a relaxing holiday. There are few hotels and it's not as busy as big resorts like Benidorm; most people book a villa or apartment holiday. There's a beautiful golden, sandy beach, a fishing port where you can see the fishing boats return every afternoon and the fish being sold, and then there's the old town where the market's held each Thursday. Plenty of restaurants, bars, cafes and shops, things to see and places to explore. Everyone's very friendly and everyone speaks at least a little English: there are quite a few Brits living in Javea too and there's even a film in English once a week at the cinema in the Port. Boat trips and water sports are popular as is tennis, walking, horse riding and cycling. A hire car is essential, not only for getting about in Javea but also for exploring the wider area and other resorts up and down the coast, like Denia and Gandia to the north and Moraira and Calpe to the south. Benidorm is around 40 minutes away and Alicante and Valencia airports are just over an hour. There's are good motorway links and it's no longer a toll road. Most car hire companies arrange airport pick-ups and drop -offs. Finally, if you need to see a doctor, there's a modern and very good National Health Clinic in the old town (the Pueblo) and another in the Port (the Puerto): both are free to British holiday makers if you have your UK Gobal Health Insurance card with you plus your travel insurance. There's also a very good hospital in Denia with a HELP desk for English-speaking visitors, There are English dentists in Javea but in Spain everyone has to pay for dental treatment.

The Arenal itself is so beautiful, you can walk and enjoy the fabulous bars and restaurants or just stroll along. The bars and restaurants are fantastic of an evening, And if you want to stay out later and dance the bars come to life, live DJs.

The town was very welcoming to tourists. Free parking at beaches and very good restaurants and bars. We liked the green aspect with all the trees and the choice of a sandy beach or smaller shingle coves. Eat lunches in places on the main promenade, all good , Many of the menu dell dias were really good value. In the evening the Bodequilla stood out as did the Bacchus slighty further out of town. All ready planning to visit again.

Javea was wonderful. The playa de Arenal is a fabulous area for families and ‘strolling’ and eating. Also be sure to head up to the other end of town and explore beyond the harbour arm. You will find a lovely looking Greek taverna type restaurant with the most beautiful views from the terrace. The Thursday market at Javea Peblo is worth a visit. As is the town in general.
