The hotel is located an easy walk from the train station, with transport links in to the city right outside. Reception staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful with directions, providing us with a map of the city and advice. Our room was spacious and quirky - certainly not a bland hotel room - it felt as if we were up in the trees. Had a great kettle! The atrium of the hotel is a leafy oasis which looked attractive.

The hotel was undergoing renovations when we arrived but every effort was made to not let the work be intrusive. The hotel was located not far from the motorway which was an advantage for us. The staff were welcoming and booking in was completed efficiently. We were information on how to connect to the Internet and how to connect to our Netflix account via the TV in the room. The beds were comfortable and we were lucky to have rooms to the rear which were cooler. Parking was no problem. There is a restaurant on site as well as a small bar.

The property is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from the nearest tram station, which made getting around easy. Check-in was smooth and quick—the reception is on the right as you enter the main gate. There’s a large, free parking area within the premises, which is a big plus. I also appreciated the shared kitchen facility, similar to what you’d find in a hostel. However, I was not fully satisfied with the size of the room, and the bathroom shower really needs a proper enclosure for better usability. Overall, I felt the stay was a bit overpriced for what was offered.

A Taste to Suit Everyone’s Palette

Raise your wine glass and toast to the beautiful city of Bordeaux on the banks of the Garonne River. Having produced wine since the 8th century, it’s fair to say the second largest wine producer in the world is worth the trip for the vin alone. The city itself has spread outwards, rather than upwards, and the result is a very pretty town centre, filled with stone mansions and terraced housing comparable to Paris.

Cultured Bordeaux is filled with museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art and Musee D'Aquitaine. The streets provide an equally interesting exhibition of fine architecture including the Victory Arch and the Aquitaine Bridge.

On the shores of the river lies the Les Chartrons district, which is a blend of ferry boat rides, picturesque views and buzzing nightlife while the pubs and cafes in the La Victoire district are frequented by students.

A tour of the famous vineyards is probably on the itinerary and this can be accomplished by visiting the wineries and châteaux privately or as part of a tour. You can also worship the wine gods at the Bordeaux Wine Festival held during the summer.

    Bordeaux was a very nice city to visit. People were friendly and helpful. The transport system was very good and easy to use. We did an all-day wine tour which was too long. We would recommend a half day tour. Also, the river tour is completely overrated.

    Loved the tram system, so easy to get around, the tram line A goes from the airport to the centre of town. The buildings are beautiful and the walking streets have so much history and are easy to navigate. The open air market on Sundays near the river was amazing, it was the highlight of our stay.

    We like museums et-al and Bordeaux is stuffed with them. Public transport is exceptional (and I mean exceptional ) as well as good value at seventeen euros for seven days (June 2025) You don't have to be interested in the wine industry there is plenty of other stuff ! Architecture is darned good especially out at Pessac with the Le Courbusier estate.

    A city full of history and wonderful architecture both new and old. A petit Paris with less overcrowding. A rich culture of wine production and a wonderful museum to celebrate it. The east bank is a contrast to the west and should be explored. A complex city that takes time to uncover.

    We are often in Bordeaux and we were there for a wine event. If anyone is reading this before August 31, 2025, you need to be aware that the tram system is not working properly and the lines from the train station to Quinconces are not running. They have buses instead, but they are overcrowded and not nearly frequent enough for the amount of passengers. From Quinconces to the Cité du Vin the trams are running. We like Bordeaux a lot and there are great restaurants aplenty and loads of things to do.

    There are a lot of things to do at Bordeaux, we were spoilt for choice, lots of restaurants offering both French and international cuisine. The city felt safe to walk around in. There are trams and buses that transport you around easily, or you can walk or hire a bike/scooter. Great architecture, excellent shops both chain stores, deluxe brands and small boutiques and independent stores, lots of bars and even a real Irish pub in the centre of town!

    Marie's place was beautiful and she was super thoughtful. She even let me charge my EV in her garage as I had so many problems charging it in France. The hotel was incredible intimate and carefully considered. She's extremely friendly and helpful. I've stayed at many B&B in France and loved her place. Location was a lovely residential neighborhood and about 20 minutes walk to city center. Definitely staying here when I am back in Bordeaux!
