Ardfern is a small village with a great hotel, we have stayed at before, the access road is one track with passing places. Having driven on these roads in the past it's not a problem, but could be for city drivers. Oban is about 25 miles to the north and the historic landscape of Kilmartin with its museum is only about 7 miles to the south. Crinan with it's canal is just a few miles further, another one track road. Altogether a beautiful part of the world.

The location and the views are wonderful.

The location and the views are wonderful. Very tranquil setting. Food and service was great. The room requires a little attention though. Bedding is a bit shabby, cleanliness of bathroom could be better.

The food at the hotel restaurant was lovely.

The food at the hotel restaurant was lovely. The chef sources ingredients locally and they have their own garden. It was very up scale for being so far off beaten path. The staff were very friendly and accommodating getting us in for dinner even with our late arrival. The highland cows grazing and view were spectacular. The beds were comfortable and it was so quiet. Just beware that the roads in the area are narrow and winding and at times "single track with passing places" and speed limits are 60mi/hr.
