Loved the upside down house layout. 2 great room sizes (bed and bedding have the best nights sleep!), lovely modern bathroom. Cute and perfect welcome package of tea, coffee, biscuits and milk. Hilary was lovely and responded to messages quickly, even popping by to say hi on arrival :) would highly recommend and stay again when taking a break in this area.

The Abbey was fantastic, and there are lots of really nice little tea shops. It's a pretty little town and some of the shops looked interesting, but unfortunately I visited on a Monday when most of them were closed. If you want to explore the shops and have a full choice of eating places, I recommend going later in the week. They have the best coffee at a place called Rustico. They certainly know how to do coffee and pizza. The owner is Italian and the staff really nice and friendly. Little high street with lots of shops, independent mainly and banks. A lot of history in the 1066 country and the museums are free, including the Almonry which is part of the town council building. The town slopes going down to the Monastery, easy to walk down to the church and the Monastery. It costs £16.75 to get into it per adult. Visiting the abbey and the guide was both informative and amusing. Good town with parking and shops and eateries. Easy to get to the coastal areas. We liked Bexhill on sea. Historic and interesting town of Battle, 1066 - 1115! Don’t miss St Mary’s Church close to the Abbey on the main High Street, worth an visit! Abundance of tourist, okay that’s expected in mid August. Great for walkers and dogs, most places very welcoming with dogs including bowls of water and sometimes dig biscuits! Interesting High Street with a variety of shops and restaurants. Absolutely beautiful surroundings , swimming pool, it is not heated . Not a problem I really enjoyed swimming in it. You would not be able to walk into the town of Battle , it would be too far. We found the dinner menu far to expensive for us. So we drove to Battle and had fish and chips. The following evening we went into Bexhill.
