Welcome from Tracey the receptionist was exceptional. Very helpful and genuinely friendly when we requested directions, taxis etc. Lovely location. The two dinners we had were good and the waitress though very busy was polite and friendly as well as efficient. Bed was comfortable. Swimming pool good.

Charming place, really pretty old town, beautiful historic buildings & quaint old streets to wander round, some great restaurants, pubs with character. Quietly understated & not touristy (visited off peak in June). Ferry trips, steam train, also NT places nearby. Good place to take older relatives. Great for long weekend or as a base for exploring this beautiful part of Devon.

Its beautiful… all the houses dotted behind each other uphill. The river Dart, the boats, ferry and the floating bridge were lovely to see. We took the ferry across to Kingswear to catch the steam train to Paignton. We were unlucky to miss the airshow that day. We took the Dartmouth Princess to Greenway House (Agatha Christie) and had a lovely day. Dartmouth Castle was disappointing as there really isnt any castle left… but the beautiful views up there are worth the trip.
Everywhere in Dartmouth was lovely, easy to get with some uphill walking, loads of pubs & places to eat! We would def go again.

We come to Dartmouth every year so do the same old haunts.
We come to Dartmouth every year so do the same old haunts. Love Bayards Cove, love exploring new boutiques and restaurants. We always pop to Blackpool Sands too and take the little boat to the castle.
Seagulls a plenty which could annoy some folk but to me it's a childhood sound that I have grown to love....even if they wake me in the early hours!

I can’t recommend this hotel enough. Everything was perfect. A very high standard, from the fabulous breakfast with spectacular views overlooking Dartmouth, to the immaculately kept accomdation. I honestly couldn’t fault a thing. We’ve visited Dartmouth previously but never actually stayed in the resort, but so glad we did. Lots of great restaurants and lovely walks. We will definately return.
Clean and well equipped property with good broadband Internet service. Good location for visiting Dartmouth, nearby coast path and ferry to Kingswear, Footpath near site leads to Dart Valley Trail. Possible to drive to Dartmoor, Salcombe, Bus stop outside for bus to Dartmouth or Totnes Mon - Sat but infrequent Sundays/bank holidays.
The Royal Castle is a gem, full of character and a welcome change to the stale big hotel chains. Quirky but interesting layout. Plenty of space to relax either in one of the two bar areas, restaurant or lounges. The central location is ideal for exploring Dartmouth and enjoying it's many restaurants, cafes and pubs.
