Location was great. Staff were lovely. Breakfast was epic. Room was clean and had everything I needed. This hotel is a perfect base for the nc500 if you are a biker, you can do loops out and back to cover the whole route over as long as you wanted.

Beautiful little place with really friendly helpful hosts who could not have been better. We hadn't booked breakfast till arriving but they served us 10 cooked items with yogurts, fruit, cereals, toast and numerous local preserves, all for a good price. Highly recommended!!

Our second visit as the hosts Rachel and her family are so lovely kind and helpful and just put you at ease that it makes you feel like you are at home. It really is like being on top of the world and feel like it too. All the animals their too makes it as well like watching all the chickens with their chicks every morning is a delight, their dog moss our dog loves to play with, the sheep and pony a delight. Seeing the family chop up wood, smell of the wood burning is just so lovely and homely. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to experience the whole Highlands feel. It's too of it's class.

The Pier has a wonderful menu and gorgeous freshly prepared food. Book ahead if you can. The wee shop/post office next door to The Pier has a wide range of stock. Lairg is a good base for exploring Sutherland.

Lairg is just a beautiful quiet place, extremely helpful kind people. Surrounding areas offering lovely food, and fantastic place close to so many amazing places. Regardless of the weather it’s our little piece of heaven.

Out of season (which appears to end in October), Lochinver...

Out of season (which appears to end in October), Lochinver largely shuts down, so there is a limited amount to do, while places to eat out close or have reduced opening, though Peet's restaurant remains open (except Wednesdays). Conversely, if solitude is preferred, this is probably the time to visit, when it is much quieter. The scenery in the area is spectacular, if bleak, but there are plenty of walks of all levels of difficulty.

We only went to Lairg because of the lack of affordable accommodation once north of Inverell (probably due to the over promotion of the SC500)Turned south and had a lovely time in south Scotland instead.

Convenient for one night to visit relatives near by.

Convenient for one night to visit relatives near by. Easy parking outside, not sure how easy when hotel busy? Hotel dowdy from the roadside and inside, no atmosphere. Some staff friendly some sharp and to the point. Room was pleasant but basic, bed fine, just about squeezed in to the tiny shower. Kettle and tea/coffee sachets available. We were told no guarantee bar would be open in the evening after 9; would have been nice to have a nightcap on our return. No key to get in on return, we had to phone to let them know are TOA, felt in the way when we did return. Breakfast fine and server was friendly, we were the only ones in the dining room, I've stayed in better youth hostels in my time. Basically you get what it says on the tin but it is old fashioned and outdated and I wouldn't be rushing back, even though cheap in comparison to other accommodation..

While there aren't days worth of activities to do within Lairg itself, it offers lovely views and lovely food for those staying there or those passing through. The Loch is great for photo opportunities and there is a forrest walk there also. It is great as a base to adventure out from for a scenic drive to the west coast where there are sandy beaches, or to the East coast where there are lovely towns and castles to visit. The locals are also very friendly.

Absolutely a great food in the restaurant with in an older built hotel. I was in the quiet court away from the main hotel and loved the peaceful relaxed atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Very conveniently located in Lairg. Ample space to park in front of the house. Beautifully kept place, felt like home. Very close to the SPAR supermarket to manage one’s own meals.
