Penrith is a lovely small town with good independent shops and cafes/bars, a castle and pretty parks. Only stayed one night but had a fabulous Italian meal which was very good value for money, great staff and pretty location. Definitely worth a trip and much less busy than nearby Keswick. It's only a few minutes to Reghed too, which is always worth a visit if Only for an ice cream 🍦

The Castle Park was lovely and well kept and we enjoyed Crazy Golf. It would be good to see it's cafe re-open.. We came by train and it was a bit of a walk to our B&B. Station Staff were very helpful. A number of roads seem to have no obvious name on them. However it was good to see a bus/rail interchange and that the town still has a bus station. Areas of the town centre look a bit run down with a number of empty commercial premises. The traffic one way system seems to need buses to do a tour of the town to get a small distance from the station to the bus station. However we found a good Pizza restaurant that had outside seating and had good accomodation at a local B&B. The more modern architecture in the town is less impressive with a Sainsburys buildings next to a leisure centre that looks like an industrial building.

Fantastic place to stay! Really enjoyed ourselves.

Fantastic place to stay! Really enjoyed ourselves. The location was brilliant for us and the cottage was just excellent. It ticked every box we wanted for our stay. The hosts were really friendly and went the extra mile for detail. Felt like home from home. Thank you we will definitely stay again soon.

Penrith is a very busy place.

Penrith is a very busy place. There's lots of history to Penrith so plenty to see. Loads of shops. Penrith is also a great place to use as a base for visiting a ton of other places in the area. If you like Italian food you can't do better than Villa Bianca. The food here is heavenly and the staff are really friendly. You do need to book, especially at the weekend.

A very convenient place for people to stay on the edge of the Lake District National Park and very close to Ullswater, one of my favourite Lakes and the pretty village of Pooley Bridge where you can board the steamer to sightsee around the Lake. We recommend lunch at the 'Four and Twenty' in Penrith town centre. However, there are so many more delightful places to eat and drink there.

I was travelling to Scotland , and back.

I was travelling to Scotland , and back. My stays at Blue Swallow were one night stops. I would liked to have had a longer stay , to see more of Penrith. There are plenty places to eat in Penrith centre. The surrounding area looks lovely, with stunning scenery. Good walking area, for sure.

Our host Alison was really friendly and helpful, and made lots of recommendations for places to eat and drink, and places to walk to. Everything was spotless, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was really delicious. No. 3 is really close to the town centre so is perfectly located to explore Penrith and surrounding areas. Highly recommended!

Great location at top end of Penrith, straight off the A66, to the roundabout, hotel on the left.. Comfortable room.. The staff are polite and accommodating.. I asked for a room with a bath and I was allocated one.. Also it was very cold and icy, the car park and all paths had been cleared and gritted so it felt very safe.

Fantastic value for money! Superb hotel right in the centre of Penrith but rooms are still nice and quiet. The whole place seemed newly renovated. Tastefully decorated rooms. Great breakfast. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
