The place is amazing, with both red and black sand beaches that are truly unique. The food is delicious- we tried several restaurants, and both the service and meals were consistently excellent. Akrotiri Was much quieter than the other side of the island (Oia). The village is small and has the small town feel. I am from a big city in the United States, so Akrotiri was a very different than home. Being Americans, and Black Americans to add, we stood out from the other people we encountered. Akrotiri town is nice.
Akrotiri town is nice. It was quiet, but perhaps we are out of season. We ate at Portobello restaurant. Excellent service and kind waiters. They also speak French. Red Beach was closed due to rock slides. The beach is hard to access, even to observe. Great location to visit the rest of the island. The lighthouse was a close location to view the sunset. Sunsets are a Santorini attraction but are only good on very clear days. If there is a haze, you'll be disappointed.Guest review byJPCanada - 10.0

With an island that's so small, you're never really far away...
With an island that's so small, you're never really far away. Akrotiri is a very quiet part of the island. So if you don't want to be far from the beaten track, but also don't want to be in the middle of the party crowd or in the crowded city, this is the right place for you. For us, the detailed research in advance was very worthwhile. We wouldn't do it differently a second time, we would go exactly there again. You can get there everything you need and take a rental car, so that you can discover the island by yourself. The food ist incredible everywhere. Many restaurants have a service to take you from hotel and bring you back after eating for free. A very good restaurant is THE GOOD HEART. It´s also a viewpoint for the sunset and they make everything themselves: wine, meat, vegetables, soaps....so you can buy there little presents for friends.Guest review byMonic

The final bus stop leaves out exactly in front of the hotel. The views from the room are amazing and staff is super kind! Also, unlimited breakfast in the morning is served by the sea over a balcony.
