I would highly recommend Fira for a stay in Santorini! The town is great, it’s small but has everything you need. It’s small and you’d see it all in an hour but there’s enough pubs, clubs, restaurants to keep you busy! We went to Oia for a day and would definitely choose Fira over it if we were to go back. Fira gives you everything and it is more practical to stay in Fira as Oia was over crowded and tourists would always be walking around your accommodation more often. Very busy in the day with many many hundreds of cruise ship visitors. Oia was the same, but by the afternoon things settled down . So many superb restaurants with iconic sun set views and a price for everyone. Fira is a fun little spot.
Fira is a fun little spot. I was here in May so there were lots of tourists but not too crowded, I cannot imagine what it would be like in the summer months. I highly recommend getting up early (7am minimum) and doing a walk from Fira to Oia. Bring good shoes and plenty of water. The views are spectacular. Word of advice, if you book the boat trip over to the volcano Island do not bother with the glass bottom boat, as there really isn’t anything to see. Also make sure to bring a bathing suit and towel, as there is an opportunity to swim in a cool water!Guest review byRICHARDCanada
