The hotel has a fantastic location — close enough to Pula for easy access, yet tucked away in a peaceful and quiet area. The beach and pool area are beautiful, and the wellness facilities were also a great addition. We had the half board option, and it was definitely worth it — there was a wide variety of food, and everything we tried tasted amazing. We also really appreciated the flexibility of the staff, who kindly allowed us to check in early and continue using the hotel facilities even after check-out.

Pula is a wonderful place to visit, the history quite fascinating, its Roman amphitheatre far more interesting and enjoyable to explore than the one in Rome. Hotel Modo was easy to find… ideally located overlooking a popular (and safe) beach, not to mention a large and well appointed camping site. Our welcome to the hotel was warm and friendly and staff attended promptly to every request and enquiry. Melissa in particular was a delight. Our room was just as described and beautifully presented; thoroughly cleaned and maintained each day. Breakfast was excellent. Onsite parking was safe and secure but readily accessible to guests. We left our car in the carpark and either walked to nearby locations or caught the local bus service… just 2€ to town, the bus stop only metres from the hotel and the service regular and convenient. A real bonus given how busy Pula gets and how hard it can be to find car parking there. One particularly good local restaurant - Pepas - is around 400m away in the camping ground. Highly recommended.

FAQs about hotels in Pula

Prized by Empires

Pula has been drawing visitors to its sunny shores since Roman times. Many an empire fought over its strategic Istrian Peninsula location, but thankfully they left its monuments largely intact. None is more impressive than huge Pula Arena, a Roman amphitheatre just back from the port.

The Temple of Rome and Augustus is a wall from another temple has been incorporated into the 10th-century Communal Palace on the cobbled square which occupies the site of the former Roman forum. The Arch of Sergii was a triumphal memorial and the Twin Gates and nearby Gate of Hercules provided access through the Roman walls.

Today’s walls are medieval and skirt a hill topped with a Venetian castle housing the Istrian History Museum. Halfway up are the Roman theatre remains, accessible via Pula Archaeological Museum.

The 6th-century Basilica of St Mary Formosa has mosaics similar to those in Ravenna across the Adriatic and Pula Cathedral was originally from the same century, but got rebuilt over 800 years later.

For many though, Pula’s wonderful beaches and turquoise seas are the biggest attractions. Its undulating coastline is peppered with luxury hotels, resorts and cheap apartments on Booking.com, all easily accessible from Pula Airport. Some look towards the Brijuni National Park islands whose waters offer some great diving spots.

Pula was clean, people were friendly and helpful.

Pula was clean, people were friendly and helpful. We visited the Arena, took a boat trip to Brijuni National Park, walked along 6km of the Lungamare Promenade and dipped many times in the beautiful sea. we would highly recommend Pula and would happily return.

    A beautiful town!

A beautiful town! The arena is stunning and so is the old town with its cobbled streets and arches. We spent two days here and felt that was plenty of time to see everything. The only negative is that the large port spoils the view and makes the bay feel very industrial. Overall would recommend for a short visit and would recommend a boat trip to see the dolphins.

Pula is lovely and interesting city.

Pula is lovely and interesting city. Where we stayed was comfortable and had good access to the city and other areas. We did feel though that the prices in the central part of the city were a high. So one needs to really look outside the main tourist areas for better value for money meals especially.

Pula is a beautiful city with great history, shops and easy to get around. It also isn't too far from lovely beaches and is easy to get to other towns via the bus services and there is also a ferry. A day bus ticket costs just 4 Euros per person which is very helpful. The only negative was that they do not really cater for vegetarians and even the sandwiches have meat in them. Equally, it was hard to find restaurants that offered good quality food at reasonable prices. Also, be careful to not get 'stung' by the price of the soft drinks - they can often cost more than the local beer! Zerostrasse with the underground tunnels and entry to the castle is around 7 Euros and worth a visit. The views from the castle walls over the Adriatic Sea are amazing. I also loved the poppies in the castle grounds!

The location is excellent, close to a good beach through a coniferous forest. The apartment is recently renovated and fully equipped (there is absolutely everything you need including washing machine and dishwasher), everything is very clean. The owners are very friendly and ready to help with everything. They were happy to offer early checkin and late checkout. A pleasant surprise was a welcome bottle of Croatian wine and a big box of ice cream :)

Hands down one of THE best properties that I stayed in. What made it special about this property is the location, the host, and space of the place. Doing remote working and on holiday at some parts, it’s a perfect spot to work and enjoy yourself at the same time. What made it special is the hospitality that the property provided. From providing tea, wine, coffee are the small touches that makes me want to go back to Croatia again.
