Dublin is home to more than a quarter of the entire Republic of Ireland’s population and was originally founded as a Viking settlement. A lot has changed from those Viking days, and Dublin is now famous for its literary history and the most green-spaces of any other European capital, making Dublin a real Irish gem.
Dublin Castle is at the heart of the city's history and Trinity College holds the renowned Book of Kells, a beautifully illustrated manuscript from circa 800 AD. The Ha’penny Bridge is the city’s most photographed landmark and the statue of Molly Malone celebrates the heroine of Dublin’s unofficial anthem.
Dublin is home to many important literary figures including Oscar Wilde, William Yeats, Samuel Beckett and George Bernard Shaw. As the famous location of James Joyce’s “Ulysses”, the city offers tours tracing the protagonist’s footsteps.
Being one of the most youthful European cities, Dublin has a vibrant nightlife scene with the popular Temple Bar area and plenty of bars and pubs, which invite you to stay out until the wee hours of the morning.

Dublin is a vibrant city, with lots of spirited nightlife in the City Centre. Arriving was easy by train to the Connolly Station then tram to my hostel. Walking around was pleasant and seemed very safe. I enjoyed seeing the Book of Kells on a tour of Trinity College, finding unexpected historical sites, and experiencing great food at local restaurants, such as Lemon Jelly.

We found a beautiful cafe Cinnamon near our hotel, the food was delicious and plentiful which was reasonably priced too. The cafe was opposite a lovely bakery Una where the biggest and tastiest treats are baked.
Our hotel was central for what we needed so we were able to walk to the city centre and the aviva stadium.

Grafton St. area was ok with good shopping, with a fine selection of bars and restaurants. When going to meet people in O’Connell St. early evening we were met by the sight of hundreds of migrant queuing for food at a soup kitchen by the entrance of the famous post office. A little off putting!

We enjoyed just walking round Dublin and seeing the sights, but for us the highlight was a train journey to Howth from Tara Street station and a walk along a clifftop trail.
The Book of Kells experience was interesting, but the book itself was a bit of a let down, with low light levels to preserve it, this made it difficult to look at in detail.
The GPO museum was worth a visit to understand the 1916 Easter uprising and the early history of the Irish Republic.
The Guinness storehouse visit is a must, even if you don't drink it, it's still interesting and the views from the top of the building are worth seeing.

Dublin is a lively city with plenty of characterful pubs.
Dublin is a lively city with plenty of characterful pubs. The river and bridges are beautiful. There are many quirky little streets and a great choice of restaurants. There are many attractions to visit notably Trinity College Library with the Book of Kells which was fantastic.
The Guinness storehouse is also a great visit even if you are not a big fan of the drink! The local people are friendly and helpful.

My son’s wedding was in the city centre, so we decided to stay in the Clarence Hotel for two nights. It was a great decision as the location and facilities were perfect for us. We loved the luxurious rooms and the bars and public areas. I was also happily surprised by how quiet the room was, given that we were beside the nightlife area of Dublin. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay right in the heart of the city.
The hotel is very well located in the city centre. The room (the rooms to be more precise as it was mostly a two-room apartment with 2 WC-shower) was very comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and willing to assist in every way they were asked. Highly recommended if you want to spend some time in Dublin!
It was a perfect stay with really friendly staff and a really comfortable room. The hotel is close to the city centre and several bus stops, shops and restaurants. You can get a really tasty breakfast at Lovinspoon or La pausa caffè. I would definitely come back when in Dublin! Thank you!
Fairly good price for Dublin. Hotel is located in a very pretty suburban area with nice old buildings and tree-lined streets. Some decent restaurants about 10 minutes walk away. Not too far to walk to city centre, about 30 minutes, plus Drumcondra station and plenty of bus routes nearby.
