This hotel is perfectly placed outside Killarney (in the countryside almost) and great if you are doing the Ring of Kerry.
We were extremely and pleasantly surprised on it's restaurant. The Head Chef, Cyrille Durand, is exceptional and his menu was delightful. We had the most amazing evening meal and strongly recommend you book early to dine here.

The staff was really helpful and the hotel was a tradicional Irish old hotel building. It was close enough to town, and plenty of parking spaces and a nice pub/restaurant. Breakfast was fresh and with the usual options, you can order a full Irish to your table which is sometimes better than the buffet style.
This friendly and relaxed hotel has superb views over Killarney's Lower Lake and MacGillicuddy Reeks. It is a gateway to the Ring of Kerry on the shores of Loch Lein.

Overlooking the tranquil waters of Lough Leane, colourful Killarney is a top Irish tourist destination. The UNESCO-listed Killarney National Park surrounds Muckross House, a stately home sitting in large grounds with a traditional farm.
A tree-lined lane leads to Muckross Abbey, a former Franciscan monastery whose cloisters enclose a tall yew tree. Celtic crosses line the cemetery and beyond is the lake, at the centre of which is a tree-lined outcrop, home of the historic Ross Castle. This 15th-century stone fortress once housed the O’Donoghue clan, one of whom reportedly lives at the bottom of the lough.

Obviously a very touristy town, most of the town appears to be made up of hotels and BnBs. However because of it it also has a wide range of restaurants and cafes featuring a wide range of cuisines. Being there on a Saturday night it also appeared to have a thriving nightlife.
Being there in Summer meant that Murphys Icecream was still open at 11PM.
I ate at Mizus - a wonderful Japanese restaurant with tremendous work gone into the decor and food that matched.
Breakfast at Zone was very busy on a wet morning and full of families - always a good sign for me, food and coffee was lovely.
I stayed in middle of town and walked out to the INEC for a gig - about 25 mins on a nice evening but also seemed to be plenty of taxis flying around. Traffic was very busy come 12 o clock on Sunday morning but it didnt take me too long to get away around the outside of the town

The town is setting is lovely with lots to see and do. It is busy with tourists so plan well or consider going during off season if possible. It's a great spot to see a lot of things so you could also consider it a satellite location.

Nature lover's dream! The area lived up to the hype. The Muckross Abbey was incredible and the house and gardens were fabulous as well.
As a horse lover who is concerned about animal welfare, I hated seeing horses being used the way they are. Tbh, that almost made me not want to return. Horses shouldn't be used to cart people around for amusement. Some of the horses were limping.

Don’t forget to get currency exchanged before going. Although most places accept credit cards, there were times when having local currency comes in handy.

Just one point - I miss booked the Lake hotel.
I wanted to stay on Sunday 15th June (And I did, thank to the people at the hotel).
But seemingly I booked the 19th October. (Don't ask me why - have not a clue).
Please send me confirmation you have cancelled it.
Thank you,

Fantastic location, close to town centre. Plenty to do inside and outside of the hotel. Hotel room was amazing, had a family suite with well equipped kitchen. Lots of activities each day to keep the children entertained. Excellent buffet breakfast. Staff always very friendly and helpful. Pool was great too.
Modern. Clean. Food is very good. I enjoyed the breakfast. The hotel is very relaxing and the staff are friendly and helpful. It proved a great break from a hectic schedule. The hotel is about 30 minutes walk to Killarney Town centre or 5 minutes drive.
