Only spent two days in Port Blair on my way to and from Havelock Island. There are a few interesting things to see, and most can be easily accessed by tuk-tuk or on foot. Not great for restaurants, as far as I could tell, though the New Lighthouse fish restaurant by the marina was OK. Generally a bit run down it struck me as a place that, like me, most travellers will pass through on their way to somewhere else.

Very Small place but fun packed. Food is expensive.
Very Small place but fun packed. Food is expensive.
Marina park is a must visit during the night.
The sea food provided by the he shacks nearby is very tasty and is easily one of the best parts of my visit.
Hotel stays are not expensive, and so are the autos/cabs. We stayed at two hotels, Hotel Landmark and Hotel Sea Shore Residency.
The former is expensive while the later is a little small. Both places have good staff and service.
For exploring scooties are the best.

Port Blair is quite a bustling place, but it's full of rich history and interesting stories waiting to be discovered. The cab drivers played a crucial role in making our trip memorable. Not only did they take us to the historical sites, but they also shared fascinating facts about each place. My advice—don’t just sit back and relax during your ride. Engage with the drivers, ask them questions, and you’ll be surprised by the incredible answers they provide about Andaman and its history.
We visited the iconic Cellular Jail, which is a must-see. If you go, I highly recommend hiring a guide for just Rs. 250 for up to 5 people (Rs. 25 per additional person). The guide gave us in-depth information about the freedom fighter struggle and the significant role the jail played in India’s history.
In addition to the Cellular Jail, we visited the local museums, the emporium, and the flag hoisting place, each offering a unique glimpse into the region’s culture and heritage.
we skipped beaches at port blair.
Overall, Port Blair is a place worth visiting for its historical importance and vibrant atmosphere. Make sure to interact with the locals and take the time to learn more about the incredible past of the Andaman Islands!

Great place of Historic importance.
Great place of Historic importance. Cellular Jail makes one very emotional. City has its charm with typical local market suiting size of Port Blair.
City resembles Shimla with lots of rises & slopes on roads. Overall a good city having maintained cleanliness at public places & in whole of city.
Lot of greenery is there in & around. Surrounding islands are beautiful, Havelock & Neil taking the crowns.

Beautiful place.
Beautiful place. With very clean beaches on one side and dense jungle on other side.
You must go for Coral reefs viewing. You can enjoy all water supports as available on other beaches in India. Coral refs and see life viewing is specialty of here.
Must plan for at least 5-6 days as you need to hope from one Island to other.
Most important must book tickets of ferry in Advance with hotel booking.

Nice place to spend 2-3 days. you can cover the city in one day. Start your day early by visiting Ross island and doing water sports activities. You can be back by lunch time if not going to Northern bay. After lunch, you can go to museum and then in the evening go to cellular jail at around 4 PM. You can visit the jail in 1 hr and end your day by watching the light and sound show which starts at 5:30 PM. Don't forget to book you show ticket online in advance. It is not available offline.
Next day, you can move away from city towards chidiyatapu beach and take a resort nearby to relax. You can watch sunset at chidiyatapu beach. Plese reach there timely as the beach closes at 5 PM.

Prime location. Airport, ferry point are a few mins away. Can get autos, cabs easily. Seems to be a new building with all fire safety measures. The hotel doesn’t have lifts but the steps are low in height. So its easy to climb up. We took 2 rooms (3bedded). Both were air conditioned. Mineral water is available free of cost. Host is fine with check in timings. They even provided us with local contacts for cabs. They were all fine and budget friendly. Rooms are clean and maintained well.
Fantastic littel homestay in Port Blaire. Highly recommend staying here, host was fantastic and provided us with dinner on both nights - it was delicious! He also kindly packed us a breakfast to go the next morning despite the early start to the day. The bed was perfect and the room had everything we needed. There were some beautiful sunsets/sunrises from the property as well.
"This budget hotel offers exceptional value with its affordable rates, clean and comfortable rooms, and welcoming staff. Despite its modest amenities, it provides a cozy and convenient stay for budget-conscious travelers. Perfect for those seeking an economical yet pleasant accommodation experience without compromising on quality."
Very friendly owner of the hotel who helped me with booking of the havelock ferry. Basic, but a great option if you need just to stay overnight in Port Blair. It will cover your needs.
