United KingdomAbsolutely wonderful apartment in the centre of Grundafjordur. Perfect base for sightseeing Snaefellsenes and relaxing when done. Fabulously equipped kitchen, spacious living room and 2 cosy and comfortable bedrooms.
The location is just amazing and all the windows look out on the most beautiful views.
A few restaurants, a takeaway and a small supermarket make this a great self catering option.

Grundarfjordur is a convenient town for exploring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. It has a good grocery store and two excellent cafes for coffee & treats. A little food truck is open until the end of August. Definitely not worth the extra drive time, town is not set up for tourists at all, hotel was 350 euros, which was very high compared to all other night on our trip. The town/village itself is really quite sweet.
The town/village itself is really quite sweet. We didn't spend much time there, but we did drive in to use the grocery store and walk around a bit. Kirkjufell Mountain is really quite stunning and one of the most recognizable Icelandic landmarks. You can just sit and look at it all day. For such a small town, Grundarfjordur is packed with loads of hotels, guesthouses, shops and places to eat. Highly recommend if you're in the area.Guest review byKookie72Canada - Review score

This small mountain gets a lot of positive press and yes, it's kind of cool but really not all that great. We were trying to find it the last time we were here (three years ago) and drove right past it. There is a parking lot on the left as you are leaving town and you need to park and get out for the mountain to "look" like it looks in the pictures you see everywhere- with the waterfalls, etc. There are numerous sights around Iceland that make this one look like a joke. Still...stopping for 5 minutes to get a picture or two will be worth it but you won't look back on this one and remember how awesome it was.Guest review byDougUnited States - Review score

The pleasant older man has welcomed us and showed us the kitchen will all necessary facilities which we could use. We had a sea view and a mountain view behind the house.
