A very enjoyable stay in this boutique hotel and there was parking nearby.
We were given a welcome drink and cake on arrival on the terrace and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was delicious and served in a delightful breakfast room.
We had a super meal the night before in the fish restaurant across the square.

We stayed on the island which is the oldest part of the settlement. If you’re comfortable in the narrow, crowded streets of old Naples you’ll be happy here; if not, look at hotels in the more modern shopping /administration area. The National Archaeological Museum is modern, well displayed and with excellent information panels in good English. Well worth a morning. Access to churches was more hit and miss.
Good fish restaurants on the island, though we did think that the more was invested in decor the lesser the cuisine…..

This city is seldom on a tour itinerary.
This city is seldom on a tour itinerary. It is an industrial port city with only a few 'attractions". But it has an earthy charm. The old city is nice to meander and the cathedral is interesting. Keep an eye out for where the locals are eating. You may not have to wear your best outfit to eat there, but it will be animated, affordable and delicious. So if prissy is not your priority, Taranto is a good stop for an overnight while making your way round the south of Italy.

Underated southern Italian city. No direct flights.
Underated southern Italian city. No direct flights. Weather in August was too hot (39C), so go at cooler time of year. I got food poisoning from a cafe pastry and was a bit overcome by heat, which put an end to my trip. Fabulous archeology museum and very good Cathedral and Castle. Beware of cruise day trippers. Old town seems a bit threatening at night, but we had no problems. English is not always spoken, even in restaurants. Cheap. Lots of fish restaurants, and if you do not eat fish, the choice is limited.

My son and I am came together for 24 hrs to Taranto to see the familial "homeland". It is a lovely little city. The main draw is the MUSEUM! If you love ancient history, it is NOT TO BE MISSED. We were really surprised by what was on display, so much better than the Met in NYC, which I have been to numerous times. We only had 90mi, but could have wandered around for closer to 3 hours. The city has three sections, and we really only spent time in the oldest section which is where our hotel was. The water is beautifully clear, and given more time, we would have sought out the beach to enjoy it.

We stayed in the old part of Taranto, which is very run down. However, there are plans and it has investment to regenerate and rebuild.
I would like to go back in a few years to see if they have achieved this.
There were some interesting places to visit - the castle, churches and a museum.
The newer part of Taranto is a lot more upmarket with more places to eat different food, mainly on the island it was fish restaurants serving the same dishes. If you're not keen on fish, then it's difficult to find alternatives.

An interesting city that we were using for a stop off point from Lecce. The city is by the water with an old castle and a fishing industry. There is also a steel mill and a lot of cargo ships in the bay. There is an old town but it is mostly abandon from the 1970’s so doesn’t compare at all to old towns in other Italian cities. Work underway to rejuvenate the old town and waterfront but seems to be very slow and will take 10-20 years. We caught the train to Taranto from Brindisi but found it difficult to get one to Amalfi so ended up catching a bus (which worked well). In summary, if your in the area spend a couple of days but don’t plan a special trip to Taranto.

For a three star hotel, this has hotel has an excellent price quality ratio. On top of that you get very friendly staff and a free parking space in front of hotel (if available). Location is at the beginning of the old city, a walk to the ekw city takes about 20 minutes though, keep that in mind. I recommend this hotel
It was in a great location to explore Taranto. It was very clean and the vanity and shower were great. Our host now works in Rome so we didn’t get to meet her in person but we spoke on the phone, she was very nice and tried to help us.
Really nice and spacious suite, fully furnished with an amazing location in Taranto.
Friendly and helpful owner and staff.
If I sleep again in Taranto, I will definitely be back here.
Strongly recommend!
Thanks a lot!
