My room was big, quiet and with a beautiful view of the lake. I also liked the onsen in the hotel (for women only) - it was very beautiful.

This was a small ryokan which allowed exposure to traditional Japan. The room size is very large by Japanese standards. We loved using the Onsen but would have liked to be able to book a time to use onsen as a couple together.

We had a lovely stay! The facility felt newly renovated and clean. The owner was very friendly and spent time giving us a ride and talking with us. The views from the dining room were beautiful, and the food was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Our room was on the first floor, so it felt dim and cool, which we found restful. The onsen bath was clean and beautiful. We also had a great day in the town walking to the wetlands garden and a local cafe!

Once you worked out how to use the Hakone Freepass all went well. It is very complex looking to start with. The bus system is very good and easy to get help.Unfortunately in the four days we had there Mt Fuji hid behind clouds. Will have to go again. Hakone Yumoto pretty much closes down at night.

We decided to travel to Hakone and buy the two day travel pass. It is possible to do everything in one day but why rush. Hakone is a busy town with many restaurants to choose from it’s the start of most of the sightseeing excursions so generally a convenient place to start from. The train, buses and mountain train terminals start from there.
Strongly suggest travelers upgrade to the Romance Car it’s well worth the extra money and buy the travel pass it does save money and is very easy to use.

Hakone is a fabulous destination.
Hakone is a fabulous destination. I recommend getting the free travel pass (it isn't free though) for ease of travel. The Hakone Open Air Museum is one of the best galleries I have been to worldwide. It is a must see and allocate a couple of hours for this one. The Venetian Glass Museum and Pola are fabulous. The ropeway and lake boat ride are also great and you can usually see My Fuji along the way. Book ahead at either or both of the Nobu restaurants - the best in the area. They close a little early so book for 6 or 6:30 if you can. Or lunch. And ride the Tozan Rail all the way for a beautiful experience. I hear the hydrangeas along the way are amazing In June - we were a little too early.

Hakone is a beautiful place with lots of greenery. The air pristine and refreshing. I would come back again . It is easy to get around especially with Hakone free pass. Every places of attraction was within easy reach really . Buses and train schedules were reliable. Only wish that the bus operators were more friendly. From my observations , maybe pay them more wages . Haha

Such a beautiful place - the best parts of Hakone and Motohakone were of course the sights. The mountains surround you and it is a nice break from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. If you’re able to, I highly recommend taking the path along the lake in Motohakone and explore that way.

Two-night stay, with Hakone 3-day travel pass was just about right duration. Easy to navigate all areas of interest on the bus system. Amazing scenery viewed from the bus and at various stops along the way. Train trip to Gora and the Ropeway with views of Mt Fuji were among the highlights.

Beautiful traditional hotel in the mountains. Our room was very spacious (twin with an onsen and it was so worth it). We have also checked out the communal onsen which had both an inside and outside pools and a very chill vibe. Amazing traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast - don't expect cereal or eggs, this is very different to a European breakfast. We loved walking around the hotel in our yucatas. Overall an amazing stay. I'd also recommend the Hakone sculpture park afterwards - it's a 20 minute walk away or a bus ride.
Was not the first time we experienced the traditional Japanese hotel: Ryokan. This one was one of the best with private and public onsen within the facility. Only 6 rooms available, so it made the experience very special and rare.
Located at about 30min by bus from Hakone Yumoto sta. The owner even use his own car to stop by the next bus stop (Sengoku), from the ryokan… very nice as it was raining that day (only 3 min by car)
The all experience was exceptional and the onsen are perfect! We strongly recommend this resort.
Most of all I love to sleep in tatami beds. The great location and beautiful view and the onsen was nice too. The personnel were great and the dinner and breakfast traditional Japanese which we really appreciated. The hotel were close to Lake Ashi and ferries and buses. 5 minutes walk from the hotel was a possible view of Mt. Fuji-san and we were lucky to see it with a blue sky one morning. Thank you for our pleasent stay.
We booked the Japanese style room with dinner and breakfast included, and it was a fantastic experience. The Onsen was great, and a fantastic end to a day of exploring. Despite being a common bath open to all guests, we never had to share it with more than one person. The hotel is a 15min walk from Hakone Yumoto station, perfect to start the Hakone loop. They have a free shuttle bus service.
Very good and clean onsen.
Room was big and spacious.
The open-air bathtub is cool.
View from the lobby is amazing when weather is good, and location is close to the Hakone ropeway and lake Ashi.
The hotel provide shuttle from the hotel to Odawara station.
