Jurmala is lovely but it is small town.
Jurmala is lovely but it is small town. There are some nice restaurants and cafes. The beach is beautiful, sandy and clean. It's a great location for getting into Riga. Trains are regular, clean and modern. 2 euro for a single, 30 minute journey to Riga. It's worth getting the boat from the wee jetty into Riga late afternoon. It's a short 20 minute train ride from Riga (on a comfortable modern train) and it's such a gorgeous beach! The parties, the food, the sand and the hotels (like the one we stayed with the Sauna) are amazing and seem much better value for equivalent in other European beaches and capitals. Apartament is situated in a quiet part of resort, walkable distance from central part and only 3-5 min to the beach. The space is very well organized and furnished, with everything what is necessary for a longer stay as we stayed only one night.
