Podgorica is a lovely town. From earlier reviews I wasn't aiming very high due to some earlier reviews but in reality it far exceeded my expectations. Train station is just at edge of town and within couple minutes walk you can have coffee, a drink or food. The town has many wide streets lined with large trees for shelter and look very pretty. Huge selection of restaurants, bars and coffee shops. My favourite restaurants were the traditional ones and you have many to choose from. Favourite coffee/drink spot is BENZ in the old part of the city; fabulous garden area at rear, good food, lovely staff. People that I met everywhere were lovely. Very walkable city. Good selection of clothes shops if that's your thing. Overall extremely positive experience.

Podgorica is much maligned but is surprisingly interesting.
Podgorica is much maligned but is surprisingly interesting. It has a number of parks and a great bar and restaurant scene. It is also very good value.
Highlight is the huge cathedral completed in 2013, impressive from the outside, inside will blow your mind.

I would say go to Kotor instead of Podgorica.
I would say go to Kotor instead of Podgorica. Dont waste your money in Podgorica. Literally there is nothing, I MEAN NOTHING in Podgorica. Kotor or maybe 2nd option Budva. But kotor is soo beautiful. I wish someone would’ve said this to me.

Podgorica is a normal city with not much to do.
Podgorica is a normal city with not much to do. As I usually say about cities like this — it’s mostly about roads and homes. The most notable landmark is the river and a relatively new bridge built a few decades ago, known as the Millennium Bridge.
The old city is decent, but there are no particularly good restaurants.
In my opinion, Podgorica is best used simply as a landing point at the airport before heading to Budva or Kotor.
That said, I did really enjoy the lunch we had at Niagara Restaurant near the nearby waterfall — it was a lovely spot.

The city is not very big, thus you can reach everything by walking. Even the airport is very close. The taxi costs 15 EUR to get to the center. The surroundings of the city are very pleasant. Not far away you can reach Nijagara Waterfalls or ancint Doclea ruins. In the city you can relax at Ribnica Bridge. Cafes at almost every corner of the street, together with small bars/restaurants. The bus transport is popular and good. Podgorica is also very well connected with southern cities (by bus), such as Kotor, Budva or Bar.

There is not much to do in Podgorica, not many souvenir shops even. The stone bridge + fort is a nice picture. Maybe watch the sunset there drinking wine would be nice.
It os allowed to swimn in the river.
The Gorica hill is not a difficult walk if you access it from the main entrance behind the football stadium.

Bojan is a truly incredible host. Goes above and beyond to help his guests. One of the kindest people we met during our stay in Montenegro. The rooms were cozy, spacious, and sparkling clean. Equipped with everything you need and more. Location is perfect. Safe and walkable distance to city center and grocery stores. Also close to the long-distance bus station. I highly recommend this property to anyone staying in Podgorica looking for a comfortable stay. Thank you Bojan! All the best
The Hilton Podgorica Crna Gora enjoys an excellent location within easy walking distance of Independence Square and the vibrant city center, making it an ideal base for exploring Podgorica's attractions. While the bar doesn't serve cocktails, this turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it encouraged me to try the local rakija—a traditional spirit that proved to be even more delicious and authentic than any cocktail could have been.
only stayed here for a night and wish we’d stayed longer as it’s a good base to see the rest of Montenegro if you rent a car. the hosts were so kind and gave us homemade cake, and offered free pick up from the airport and this kindness in Montenegro is rare! the apartment itself is very spacious and so much better that staying at a hotel.
Perfect to stay for the night before the flight from Podgorica. Free transfer from/to Podgorica Airport, operated by the host. Excellent food at the Aria Hotel nearby. Very friendly host. And the rooms, while not huge - nicely equipped (aircon, TV, mini-bar), very clean and comfortable. I would stay there again.
Small hotel located in the city center of Podgorica. Lots of details in the room which makes it nice and cozy. The bed is really comfortable. Further on there are lots of options for breakfast. The breakfast was really good.
