Stunning Lake View, Great Food & Warm Hospitality
I had a wonderful stay here—our room had a direct view of Lake Taupo, which was absolutely breathtaking. The restaurant served delicious food, and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Parking was also very convenient, making the whole experience hassle-free. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Taupo!

It has changed over the years.
It has changed over the years. It is very tourism-focused, with a lot of activities, restaurants, and beautiful lights at night. It was a pity the weather was ugly; I would have enjoyed walking around the seaside areas, etc.
Taupo has developed well, attracting more travellers to stop by to enjoy the views and cleanliness of Taupo. beautiful

The town center and the many things to see and do.
The town center and the many things to see and do. Museum was very informative. The dinning areas were awesome.
As for Wairakei hot pools, the access not suitable for those with disabilities. Showering wasn't the greatest in the men's changing area. As for the women's, the wife wasn't impressed at all. Pools, yuk!! But folks visiting their may have their own view.
We have visited a few years ago, having done the bungee, jet boat, golf raft etc.
The only thing we couldn't get out to see was the lake Carvings because of the weather and choppy lake. Tried twice this visit and once on the last visit.😟

Absolutely love Taupo, something for everyone!
Absolutely love Taupo, something for everyone! Hubby & son went to golf, ladies took kiddies to the local park to ride the wee train & Huka Prawn Park/Huka Falls, lots of lovely places to eat and DeBretts Hot Pools is always lovely to spend an afternoon. Market along waterfront on Sunday morning. Will definitely be back. Grandkids loved it.

Taupo is such an amazing place to spend time in!
Taupo is such an amazing place to spend time in! I had only planned one full day there, but could definitely have stretched out to a week.
There is a lovely walk from the Spa Thermal Pool to Huka Falls, which takes around an hour one way. Huka falls can also be reached by car, but I would definitely recommend the walk - it's not too strenuous and there is some amazing bird life that you see on the way.
I'm also vegan, and was really happy to find there are lots of cafes and restaurants in Taupo that cater to vegan and vegetarian diets. In particular I recommend Cozy Corner Café that has amazing scrambled tofu with kimchi.

We stayed at "The Cove" for 6 nights, Awesome Owner - the room, bed & spa were wonderful, just wish housekeeping had vacuumed when we put sign out for 'room service' and there are a few small maintenance issues.
The Cove Cafe serve a lovely Eggs Benedict/Latte and Hot Ginger&Lemon drink.
Lava Glass Blowing Gallery/Garden & Cafe 10/10
Rapids Jet Boat Taupo - Awesome Staff 10/10
The drive to Turangi on the east side of the lake is magic, check out the newest secluded cafe/bar
Dixie Browns make the best Hot Ginger&Lemon drink
Taupo Luxury Nails - walk-in, Guys/Men you have to try the pedicure
Taupo city council should ensure that vegetation is cleared to allow the full appreciation of viewing platform installations and the effort and investment that visitors make to reach them. (More important than a shiny mini dinosaur statue - not relevant to Taupo AT ALL)
Would have liked a horse trek (anyone?)

*Maggie, the amazing host! She was so welcoming, warm and helpful with great suggestions for sightseeing!
*Lovely location (quiet but walking distance to all the action).
*Calm, clean and cosy rooms with comfortable beds.
*So easy to come and go as we pleased (driving/walking).
*We would definitely visit Lake Taupo again and stay at Ashbrook Motel!
Standard motel room with older-style fittings and with a good view of Lake Taupo, and quite comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the spa after walking the Tongariro Crossing. A pleasant walk into the centre of the town, and a good coffee van located just across the road and along a bit.
Great place to stay, beautiful hotel, room with sunrise and sunset views right in front of the lake, very clean and tidy, with friendly staff. The best lakefront hotel in Taupo. Will definitely be returning when in Taupo.
Always stay at this motel and find the owners very accommodating and friendly.
Very clean and the heatpump is on before we arrive which is lovely. Will definately be telling family to stay there when visiting Taupo 😊
A value for Money. Just on the main road opposite to the lake. Near to the sign Love Taupo. The hole in one challenge game spot is located just opposite to this motel. Neat and tidy family oriented hotel.
