We had such a fantastic time here – this place is truly a hidden gem and feels brand new. The owners are incredibly friendly and service-minded. We felt so lucky to have stayed here!
The food was outstanding – definitely the best we had in all of Bocas del Toro. The breakfast was also very good and delicious, a great way to start each day. The hotel staff were wonderful. Special thanks to Melanie and Christopher – they were always there to help us with anything we needed. They were super friendly, spoke great English, and made communication easy, especially when we had some language difficulties.
The whole place was very clean, everything worked perfectly, and the team really took care of everything. You can even arrange a taxi to the airport directly through them – they handle it all smoothly for you.
The beach is just steps away from your room and absolutely beautiful – the most stunning beach on the whole island. Plus, you can use the pool 24/7, and there’s free drinking water available at all times.
Warm greetings from Ricarda and Kevin – and a big thank you for such a perfect stay!

Our stay at Vista Mar Hotel in Bocas del Toro was a mix of experiences. While the hotel shows signs of age and rooms are quite small, the accommodations were comfortable enough for our 3 nights visit. Breakfast was a highlight, offering a good start to our days. The daily happy hour, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, featured $3 cocktails - among the piña coladas and daiquiris we thoroughly enjoyed. At nearly $100 per night, Vista Mar felt a bit pricey for what it offers, but the central waterfront location and friendly staff helped balance things out. Even though we had quite a bit of rain during our stay, we still enjoyed the laid-back vibe of the island.

We chose this location because we wanted to enjoy the tranquility of the sea and live in the midst of nature. Thanks to the location, as well as the owners and the service staff, we achieved our goal. The place is splendid; in the morning and evening, we could see dolphins dancing not far from the shore. The restaurant delighted us every day with different and excellent dishes. The name of the location corresponds perfectly to the place. Well done to everyone, and we hope to return soon. We were offered boat excursions to visit the nearby islands, which were splendid. For the first of these excursions, the restaurant prepared a fantastic packed lunch for us, and once we arrived on the island, the captain set up a table and chairs on the beach. Then, with a machete, they opened coconuts and served fresh drinks – it was fantastic. The island was deserted for several hours, just as the owner had announced, and we took advantage of this wonderful opportunity to explore it completely. Thank you again for this experience.

We enjoyed The Restaurante Bar El Pirata and Buena Vista both of which had excellent seafood and were on the water and the oceanfront scenery is beautiful. We enjoyed taking a boat around the islands. Getting around can be a challenge due to construction but the taxis are great. The best part was relaxing by the water.

Bocas Town offers many services (supermarkets, pharmacy, cafes) and seaside hotels with cafe-bars around well-designed docks. It is a good place to find tour operators and sign up for day tours to some of the prime beaches (Bluff, Estrella/Starfish, Wizard, Isla Pajaros, Isla Zapatillas) and resorts (Red Frog, Nayara, Playa Tortuga, Bocas Villas etc) in the different areas of the Bocas del Toro Archipelago.

Wait another year or so until the infrastructure construction is completed: concrete sidewalks, streets paved, and storm drainage completed.
There are too many restaurants serving just hamburgers or pizza.
When is the water from the tap going to be drinkable?

it depends what people are looking for.
it depends what people are looking for. Its good as a starting point for day trips, but don't book via street vendors, I got ripped off. The town is crowded, the main road was dug up, but never fixed, when it rain's it's a mess. There are a few nice clothing stores. The food was mostly fried. There are a few nice hotels, I walked into one, it was a dive center. Its better to stay on one of the many islands.

The weather was sunny and warm.
The weather was sunny and warm. The taxi boats to beautiful islands were convenient. Red frog beach and Zapatillas beaches were beautiful! The water was warm. The people were friendly. We saw sloths ,monkeys, red frogs, starfish and dolphins. There were plenty of restaurants, grocery stores and bars. A week in Bocas del Toro was fun, relaxing and enjoyable!

The best part of Isla Colon was the wildlife around our accommodation which was near the junction, a couple of km out of the town centre. Could have easily spent more time there just relaxing.
Don't visit Starfish Beach for the starfish - there are only a few there these days. It is now over-run with tourist shacks/stalls. Nice spot for a still water swim and the trail in from Drago Beach is a nice walk (about 1km).
Bluff beach has a terrible "road" out to it full of potholes and rough but easy enough to pick your way through on a rental motorbike. The beach is OK with surf pounding in that seems rough and unpredictable with a couple of rips there that would be dangerous to be caught in. I wooudn't swim there and I have been body surfing for more than 50 years.
Italian restaurant near the junction is very good.
Isla Bastimentos was great except for the rainy weather. Good wildlife along the track to Wizard Beach - sloth, capuchin monkeys, lots of birds. Also a nice beach.

Excellent stay.... Food was amazing, bar had good prices, included breakfast was great. Atmosphere laid back and chill. Elegant presentation for dining- service was outstanding. Bungalow on water was very nice and a bonus for us. We were upgraded to a bungalow on the water for 2 of the 3 nights and it was fantastic. Nice place to get away from it all. Saw dolphins out in front all three days!
Very friendly restaurant staff, sun loungers on the beach with included beach towels, great food and drinks - large portions, free polo beach hike, yoga studio. Great location as no other hotels on the beach except day trippers.
Karen the host and her staff were amazing at communicating, great location right on the water and good facilities eg kayaks and paddle boards!
Very easy to walk around the island from here for food and beaches!
