This is a beautiful hotel, located in a cute, surfy town with easy access to Coiba. We absolutely loved our stay here. The owner and her team went out of their way to make us feel welcomed, and also helped us celebrate our daughter’s birthday. We stayed in the family room which is gorgeous…comfy beds, very effective aircon (much needed when we were in SC!), a good shower and handy kitchen facilities. The kids particularly loved the hammocks outside.
The pool is stunning and we found the food in the restaurant excellent. Can’t recommend this place more highly!

I got a free upgrade to the Upper Level Suite. The view was absolutely amazing! The king bed was super comfortable, the room was clean, and the location was perfect for relaxing. The rooms are simple, but very clean and have everything you need. I had a great stay and would definitely come back.

Wow! Hospitality (and construction) is Ricardo's game and he is at the top of it! You'll be hard pressed to find a more accommodating or helpful host. He gave us a lovely upgrade to the Oceanview bungalow with a full kitchen which came in handy for our couple of night stay. He was great communicating with us when we took a diversion pre-arrival, and then went over and above to make us so comfortable when we arrived and even set us up to watch the biiiiig Hockey Game :-p with a big tv at the bar area. He's a wealth of knowledge and he and his wife Ingun, were so lovely and helpful during our stay and gave us fab restaurant recommendations. We ate at their fave places and loved them. Thanks so much! The property is private with a big pool and was easy to find - in a peaceful spot with fab ocean views of the surfer point and that sunset - gorgeous! The king bed was really comfy too with nice linens. Enjoy your stay - We did!

Funky surfer world with good restaurants. Feels like real Panama. Pleasant and relaxing except for the last 20k driving on the rough gravel road under heavy construction (Feb 2025). Once finished it will be great. Difficult drive at dusk and after dark with people on horseback.
No gas station in town so be sure to fill up when on Hwy 5 in Sona or at the one Delta station about 1/2 way to Santa Catalina.

Santa Catalina is an interesting place.
Santa Catalina is an interesting place. If I were younger and a surfer, it might be awesome. At this stage it feels like it is still the frontier, the “wild west” of Panama. It is obviously super popular with the crunchy backpacker and surfer crowd, and judging by the development taking place (golf course down the road), it will soon be popular with the expats and gringos as well.

Good place to have a day trip to Coiba, we did an excellent snorkelling tour with Watching Dolphins.
Playa Estero is very pleasant for a lazy afternoon ( but better with a car!).
Some pleasant restaurants in the village : We liked lodge bar and restaurant, very good and friendly.
Very disappointed by Los Penguinos, beautiful view and nice for a drink, but very very very long service.
There is an ATM near the Pharmacia and supermarket.

I’ve been to Santa Catalina about 9x in the last 15 yrs.
I’ve been to Santa Catalina about 9x in the last 15 yrs. It’s clearly a place I enjoy. I’m there for the diving. If you go there to dive you should visit Isla Coiba … it’s world class. Of course you also have surfing, kayaking, fishing, walking on the beach or just relaxing at your hotel pool. Highly recommend getting out and enjoying one of the many restaurants. I also really like the people, who I find friendly and hard working. Hangout by the beach at sunset and you’ll find locals & tourist playing volleyball or just sitting over a cold beer enjoying the view.

Santa Catalina is quiet surf town.
Santa Catalina is quiet surf town. During the day, most of the restaurants were closed. There are two beaches, the nicer one is Estero beach, which is good place to surf, even for the beginners. You can do snorkling trips, diving, surf or kayaking to the Santa Catalina island, where the beach was great and water clear.

I really enjoyed my stay. The room was comfortable, and the staff was exceptional. The manager and receptionists were incredibly helpful, and the waiters were all very friendly. The restaurant offered several delicious vegan dishes, with the grilled cauliflower being a standout. The outdoor pool area provided a beautiful view of the sea. While the location isn't in the heart of Santa Catalina, it's conveniently close to the nicer of the two beaches.
Amazing location, priceworthy stay. As a guest you can rent surfboards for a lower price. The restaurant is okay. All in all, given the location and the price for the stay it‘s recommendable. Be aware that depending on the rip tide you might have to cross a small river in order to get to the beach which can happen very quickly in the evening.
Best hotel we went to Panama. Perfect location, beautiful pool, comfy bed and there was a basket of fruits in the house. The host was very friendly. I really recommend it, especially for surfers, it's 10 minutes walk from the spot La Punta
Everything was perfect, very nice personal and for the beautiful location just above the Beach Santa Catalina I could easily give 12/10 🙂. I recommend it very much.
