The city of Istanbul offers a trip unlike any other, encompassing Asian and European cultures to create a heady mix of art, music and food. Its a beautiful city and very easy to get around as public transport is plentiful and very easy to use. The main tourist spots get very crowded especially in the summer months.
It is an exceptionally hilly city also having many steps to reach various sites which is a serious consideration for anyone with mobility issues.

All the Historical sites and Grand Mosques are fantastic.
All the Historical sites and Grand Mosques are fantastic.
With a river cruise on the Mighty Bosphorus and Golden Horn rivers' a must. And the numerous local turkish restaurants are a pleasure . With there covered outdoor seating. Especially in the Sultanahmet area. Where i stayed in a lovely boutique hotel .Within a 10 minute walk to the 'Blue Mosque' the Hagia Sophia. And the Grand Bazaar.
Unfortunately ,the hideous traffic ,which clogs up the city ,during the day. Make using a taxi/ride share useless .Use the extensive metro system instead. To get to the Historical sites ,on the Northern side of Istanbul.

This is my second visit in Istanbul in 2 years, and everything has changed. Istanbul became more expensive than Rome, and Athens. We used public transportation, and felt like unwelcome guests. The locals only wanted our money, but the service went downhill. Maybe the political timing was not the best, however this visit was very disappointing. Our last one in Feb 2024 was great in comparison.

Istanbul is a very bustling city. Full of life and color.
Istanbul is a very bustling city. Full of life and color. The spices around, store perfumes. Cat's everywhere. People are great , and are very child welcoming. My children enjoyed the cats around every time we go out. A lot of stores are open even in the middle of the night. You can in the city late night and still see a lot of people around. The city never seem to sleep. We went to the Istanbul aquarium which is super. Kids love it. It can be pricey specially for tourist, but you will understand why they ask for such entrance once you go inside the aquarium. Marmara beach is not so impressive, but atleast we were able to go to the beach and also enjoy the perks of being in the city instead of going to those isolated areas.

Traffic was horrendous as to be expected.
Traffic was horrendous as to be expected. The hop on bus tour is not worth it because of the traffic and not able to see so muck. It took us hours! However out 5 euro boat trip of the Bosporus was fabulous. It shows a different perspective. Also past by some gorgeous houses!. Shopping was exciting. Loved all the mosques all dotted about the city. I think the tram system is the way to go.

We had a wonderful stay here! We received a room upgrade, which really made our stay. The room was fantastic and had a wonderful bathroom/balcony, which were extremely spacious. The spa was lovely, the staff were very helpful and the hotel was very clean and modern. Would definitely recommend for anyone staying in Istanbul. There was a free shuttle available which needs pre booking, however we were happy to pay for a taxi to Taksim square, which was only a few euros. We will definitely be recommending this hotel to family/friends!
I had a fantastic experience at Hotel Bosphorus Taksim during my stay in Istanbul. Its proximity to Taksim Square makes it an ideal location for exploring the city.
Highlights:
Prime Location: Located just steps away from Taksim Square, the hotel is perfect for enjoying the lively atmosphere of Istanbul while having easy access to major attractions.
Impeccable Cleanliness: The rooms and common areas were spotless, ensuring a comfortable and hygienic stay throughout.
Professional Staff: The entire team provided outstanding
This property is one of the bestest hotels to stay at Istanbul. The best part of this hotel is the owner himeself Fuad. He was exceptional with his services and he cared for us way too much. Every other time he was present to cater us. The rooms are newly renovated and clean. Washrooms are superb clean and all the facilities are there which are in 5 star hotel. I had a great trip and thank you Taksim Larissa for making it a memorable one. My next visit will be sure this hotel again.
The room was looking out to Taksim square, I was afraid it would be too loud, but it was ok. The building is old and beautiful. Breakfast is rich with cheese varieties. You can order an omelet and a cup of Turkish coffee at the breakfast counter too.
Location is fantastic. Very convenient, and yes, like others commented above - 10 minutes from the hotel there are buses going both to Istanbul and Sabiha Gokchen airports.
Not expensive place right next to Taksim Square. The location is perfect. Don't expect a luxury place, it is adequate to the price. I was many times in Budak and always have a good experience with the staff. Thank you for check in in the middle of the night. Actually it is not a hotel so I always feel like in a private little flat in the center of Istanbul. I never had any problems in Budak.
