Bandera proudly holds the title of the "Cowboy (and Cowgirl) Capital of the World"; a true haven for horse lovers. Despite a recent (and fortunately unsuccessful) attempt by the City Council to ban horses from the city, Bandera has held onto its unique charm. It's not uncommon to see cowboys and cowgirls riding into town and tying up their horses outside the local bars, especially on a Sunday. It's all part of the magic that makes this place so special.

Bandera has long been known as a horse-friendly town — it’s part of what made it famous as the "Cowboy Capital of the World." I’ve been coming here for years to enjoy the rides, especially the iconic city rides to the 11th Street Cowboy Bar, which are a true Bandera tradition.
Unfortunately, the new CC has recently put up "No Horses" signs in areas where horses have always been welcome, even though no official ordinance has been passed. It’s disappointing to see, since horseback riding through town is such a big part of Bandera’s spirit and history.
Hopefully, this will be addressed soon so Bandera can continue to be the authentic cowboy town we all love.

Unique shops and eating places.
Unique shops and eating places. Wonderful if you want a taste of cowboy, Texas!! An evening dancing at the 11th St. Cowboy Bar was fantastic! Open air, might be hot in the summer...
The BBQ was fabulous at B Daddy's BBQ on Main St. and Cowgirl Coffee was really worth seeing, such cute decor!! Good coffee too!
Loved that you can park and walk to so many shops, even the very good museum just off Main street.

If you love Texas, cowboys and the old west Bandera is the place for you - it’s a step back in time to the 1950s - be sure and eat breakfast at the O.S.T. cafe and sit in the John Wayne room - have a beer at the 11th Street Cowboy bar

We went to ride the Twisted Sisters highway & see the scenery. We enjoyed the shops in town & locals were so friendly. We ate at the OST resturant which was excellent & the staff were fun & went out of there way to help. The town being small was pretty crowded during the weekend, if your on motorcycles suggeste you park on a side street and walk to your choice shop or resturant than you can get out easier than on the main street, but it was doable so just don't get in a hurry and you'll enjoy it!

Bandera was a let down for us.
Bandera was a let down for us. We stopped in at a pub before going to our location. Staff was not friendly or attentive. We made reservations at The Forge steakhouse. Online they boosted Aka steaks pan seared and grilled to perfection. Their website showed prices around $25 but did add a notice that prices maybe slightly higher due to higher beef cost. Our steaks were $60-$95 and full of fat. We sent one back but the replacement was the same. They also covered the top of the steaks with sweet onion jam and used the gravy from the liver & onions on the potatoes. The staff was friendly. We will not go there again.
We did stop by the American Legion and the lady we encountered there was absolutely wonderful. Although we walked in on a private event, she stopped and took the time to welcome us and directed us to other attractions to visit.
We stayed at the Flying L Ranch Resort. This place is amazing. It’s beautiful country side with everything you need. Swimming pool, golf, restaurant, bar, live music. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. We will be back to Flying L Ranch Resort and give Bandera a second chance.

Great place to stay and explore the area. Everyone was really helpful and friendly. They gave us lots of recommendations for places to eat including the best hamburgers in Bandera at a gas station and the OST for breakfast. We also tried the Bandera Brewery on their suggestion which had great live music too. We played putt putt, table tennis and had a really comfortable 2 bed villa. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent helpful Lady on Reception. The Motel was quiet ( we visited 'out of season'- February) and the location is perfect for walking into the safe and fun Cowboy Town of Bandera. Would definitely return to this Motel!
It was also a well placed location for our visit the Racho Cortez to do some riding.
Wish I could have stayed longer in Bandera.
Rooms were clean and the staff was very accommodating, we requested quiet room, late checkout which was taken care of. The bed is very comfortable and seems the motel was renovated recently so the ambience is what we loved the most. Definitely recommended to the travelers visiting Bandera.
