Always a good breakfast at Holiday Inn Express. The room was very clean. Convenient location for our visit to Mesa Verde NP. The front desk employee seemed new and we appreciated how pleasant she was and how hard she worked, including promptly finding answers when she didn’t know information.

Super accessible and friendly host. Super comfy beds. Hot tub and star gazing. Fully equipped kitchen- had condiments, salt and pepper. Really unique secluded setting. Good access to mesa verde.

The place is interesting. The dome in the middle of nowhere but therefore stars and silence as guarantee. Stars from your bed and bring a sleeping mask as the sun will wake you up. It was disappointing that most areas were not really clean (maybe in such environment not possible). Bathroom an adventure with a bio toilet (new experience for us). Bed in second floor and required to go a ladder up and down (bathroom was in first floor).

    In a strip town with chain hotel choices, The Retro Inn offered an alternative. After hiking all day, we found two pleasant restaurants along the Cortez highway: The Farmhouse Bistro and La Casita de Cortea.

    This is a sleepy town without any real attractions where...

    This is a sleepy town without any real attractions where everything closes early even on weekend nights. However, I can strongly recommend the WildEdge brew pub, both for its beers and the live music (though also closing at 9 pm). The Canyons of the Ancients and adjacent pueblo ruins North of Cortes are well worth visiting.

    A very nice town of about 9000 people, a very clean town...

    A very nice town of about 9000 people, a very clean town with some awesome eateries. Lounging Lizard I highly recommend as well as Beny's Diner for breakfast. Wish I had more time to explore this little gem of a town. Very easy to get around.

    Cortez is a cute little town.

    Cortez is a cute little town. Friendly people and a variety of restaurants and fast food facilities. Not sure I would avoid any part of Cortez. Close to the 4 Corners attraction as well as Mesa Verde.

    Cortez is a convenient location.

    Cortez is a convenient location. We went to Mesa Verde National Park, Monument Valley, Canyonlands and Arches National Park, and Telluride from there. Arches National Park closes for a few hours if too crowded so it's recommended to get there early.

    My hubby picked up tacos at a local Mexican restaurant in Cortez and they were quite good. Cortez is a small town, so navigating around town is very easy. Next time, I would most likely look for a cabin in the mountains for lodging.

    NO LONGER A MOTEL!!! I booked this motel months in advance. When we arrived, there was a sign on the "office" door that said, "This is no longer a hotel. These are private homes. Please contact your booking agent." We had to sleep in the car for the night cause the ENTIRE area was all booked up...
