United StatesHotel itself was very nice but people should have been told that staff was running late so they didn't know what time that breakfast would be ready. People were waiting 15+ minutes before someone said something. I'm thinking what if wanted to catch a bite before they headed out for an appointment. That 15 minutes could have caused them to be late. At least post a sign as soon as you know something so people can make other plans. NOBODY wants to be left wondering. It's understandable when things beyond someones control happen but it's not acceptable when you have control over a situation and you don't communicate.... a simple sign would work.

Alpine Helen, Georgia is a precious little town, very similar to Gatlinburg on a smaller scale. There were so many things to do. My only suggestion is for the city to have a walking map of downtown shops and restaurants. As an older couple walking in the heat, I am sure we missed quite a bit. My husband is retired military.
My husband is retired military. We have spent a total of ten years in Germany. To celebrate our 50th anniversary there with long time friends and family who were also stationed in Germany with us, it was a marvelous time of remembrance. The Bodensee Restaurant went over and above to make our anniversary special. The chef. staff and food were outstanding. I could close my eyes and dream of days gone by. I highly recommend this restaurant. We stayed in The Charming Downtown Helen Gateway. It was right in the heart of the town. Everything was walking distance. Great place and dog friendly. Every shop keeper was happy to tell about their products. Very friendly!! And most shops are dog friendly. Tubing for younger folks was a blast to watch. My grandson loved the axe throwing place. It's a small charming looking town that is very tourist oriented. Lots of little gift shops, snack shops and t-shirt shops. We found several interesting shops closed during our visit. Big Daddy for lunch and Das Ice Cream were awesome. Das Ice Cream will be a permanent favorite. Betty's Grocery is a must stop for staples and unique Helen/ north GA foods. Town is an awesome walking experience. However, places like Jumpin Goat Coffee and the antique stores outside of town are TRUE Georgia gems. The in-town gem and gold panning store is legit! Warning!! ALL water events/parks only operate from Memorial Day to Labor Day. It does not matter the weather or condition of the river.Guest review byColinUnited States - 8.0
Helen is a cute town, this is my second visit.

We had a blast.
We had a blast. It was our 28th wedding anniversary and we enjoyed every second! Caramel apples are a must from Hansel and Gretal. Schnitzel ANYWHERE! Get a room close enough to walk, it is the best part of the trip!Guest review byHeather
