We had a room in front of the water and it was the best, highlighter of our trip. We stayed 1 night and wish we had booked 2 nights. The rooms don’t have air conditioning so in summer get a little hot, but there is a day bed outside and we slept there, listening to the waves.

This was a very different experience of a hotel stay , back to the 1950 s but it was great fun . The bed was very comfortable . The toilet you pulled an old fashioned chain to flush .
. Cabo Polonio is a beautiful area with long gorgeous beaches , sea lion sanctuary , and lots of arte stalls .. its got a great laid back vibe .
The hotel is basic with no electrical sockets in your room but the hotel staff allow you to charge your phone in the bar area , sun permitting.. the staff are very kind.
We had dinner 2 nights in the hotel and the quality of food and service was excellent . The garden is lovely to relax and there is wifi ...the stars and sunsets are amazing ...i would definitely visit . Has to be on your list if touring Uruguay .

The hostel has a nice cozy vibe and it's in the middle of Cabo Polonio. Thank you to the staff that really put in the effort to make the hostel feel like home 🙏

The hostel is centrally situated in Cabo Polonio, just a few meters away from Calavera beach. It has the basic amenities but everything is clean and beautifully decorated. Nice and helpful stuff! We went late March and I think it was the only place that still had enough visitors to socialize. But still it was peaceful and quiet to enjoy the nature. We had the double room on the upper floor (the only one with private bathroom) which had a very nice view on the beach and the lighthouse, totally recommended!

Nancy and her family don’t just offer beds, they will do everything to make you feel like part of their life. This place is anything but fancy, you should know this! But it’s packed with love and Cabo polonio is just magical. Start your day with one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in South America while watching the surfers. Go to the beach, which is just in front of your nose. Watch the stars or go fishing with the family. It’s just the pure life at the beach. I will come back, Gracias Nancy!!!

Stargazing was unbelievable, never seen that many stars in the sky anywhere else before, The sea Lion colony is awesome, the view from the top of the lighthouse is a must, try the sea algae fritters, fried fish bites(dogfish), the beach on the south (playa sur) is where most people go to, got to see the famous Darwin's toad which only inhabits this region in the world.

Cabo Polonio is a bit of a magical place.
Cabo Polonio is a bit of a magical place.
The beach is endless and the sky is amazing at night because of the lack of light pollution.
There are some good places to eat or drink but I recommend withdrawing a lot of cash before going there, as some places don’t accept cards.

The scenery and the beaches are unique.
The scenery and the beaches are unique. Cabo Polonio is a beautiful National Park. The sunsets are amazing.
But you have to like the very particular vibe of this place, such as lacking basic infrastructure. It is extremely basic while quite expensive. It´s some kind of rich hippies place.
Book in advance or you´ll end up in the same hotel we went, which was really bad (Puertas del Cabo). There are better options but be prepared to spend your dollars if you want something decent.
We had dinner at Perla del Cabo which was very good, especially the ceviche.

It is a privilege to stay overnight in Cabo Polonio and Mariemar is as comfortable as possible given that the Cabo has no electricity etc.
The location is truly exceptional and makes up for everything else. The upstairs rooms are very cozy, with a lovely balcony overlooking the sea. Magical and very romantic.
Everything you need for a stay in Cabo Polonio. Great sized bedroom for a couple of nights in a good location. Bathrooms clean. Host Lucio was so very helpful and kind as well as serving a delicious breakfast each morning. We very much enjoyed our stay at this authentically Cabo Polonio place!
