Classic (Habsburg Empire times) architecture's town-museum,...
Classic (Habsburg Empire times) architecture's town-museum, unique in that sense. The old town is framed by mountains and forests, on the mountain river. Hot and warm springs are all around town. One can feel like his on a filming site, but everything is real. Excellent beer, good food, competitive prices, and hotel prices are absolute value for money. On the negative side, the town has a heavy Soviet times legacy, mostly in its specialization in attracting tourists from Russia. As a result, the Soviet Russian culture is dominating everywhere - from adverts, small and large - in Russian as the main foreign language around the town, to hotel and restaurant staff, always speaking Russian, in some cases -German, and far less often - English. I know that the town authorities tried to switch the main tourist origin from Russians to Germans of Russian origin after the start of Russian aggression on Ukraine. They partially succeeded, but unfortunately, it didn't change the atmosphere in a beautiful town much. You can still see Russian as the dominating language around with tons of loudly speaking, hardly talking people, some with bad manners, dominating in town. Probably, those with nostalgia for Soviet times, or who speak only Russian, will feel more comfortable here than in any other town in the EU, though.Guest review byV.GliožerisLithuania - Review score
The Singing Fountain is just magical--especially at night!
The Singing Fountain is just magical--especially at night! Try to go when it's open. The town center is quiet, peaceful, and safe. It's a very walkable place in general. Drinking water from all its springs was fascinating. The food options were quite good--no chains but a lot of "mom and pop" places with no shortage of cuisine types. The locals don't speak the best English, but that's to be expected in a small town. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and spring is definitely the best time of year to go!Guest review byMichaelCzech Republic - Review score
Nice and relaxing town.
Nice and relaxing town. We went in March so there were not many tourists. We enjoyed walks on the town's colonade and surrounding parks full of healing springs. They are good for multiple diseases. We enjoyed wellness that our hotel offered, massages and mud baths. It was nice to relax and de-stress. There are many historical sights in the area and surrounding villages and towns. Cheb town and Loket town are in driving distance with castles and interesting history.Guest review byKristynaUnited Kingdom - Review score
Cheb is a town with a fascinating history and a main square...
Cheb is a town with a fascinating history and a main square (commemorating King John of Podebrad) that has buildings dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries. Check out particularly the houses at the far end of the square and read their history. It's a varied and interesting street scene. The main church at the far end of the square is Romanesque in origin but parts were destroyed in the war. As always in central Europe some buildings suffered in the various wars in the 16th and 17th centuries. Some buildings are typical of the Art Nouveau/secession style and have been well restored. We were really glad to have visited this part of Sudetenland - now ,of course thoroughly Czech even if some people do still speak some German. Restaurants weren't particularly memorable but the beer (as always!) good. Always make sure you arrive at a restaurant by 7.30 latest: most close at 8.00Guest review byValerieAustria - Review score

The old town was beautiful. The hiking trails in the surroundings offered great views of the old town, and a nice place for forest bathing. Also, there are good bicycle paths that are well sign-posted.Guest review byWSingapore - Review score

Jáchymov is a small and charming town nestled in the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge / Krušné hory). We were truly impressed by its rich history, which adds a special atmosphere to the place. The town has a local museum and a large Catholic church. Another great advantage is its convenient location near several ski resorts, making it an excellent base for winter sports enthusiasts. Overall, Jáchymov is a lovely town with a unique historical charm, perfect for both exploring and relaxing! 🏔️✨Guest review byJulia and Friedrich MerzGermany - Review score

In my view the local authorities and hotel owners should take better care of cleaning the snow inside the town and organising traffic on the town premises. It was really hard and sometimes dangerous to walk the streets because of the piles of snow and many cars trying to pass through the narrow streets full of snow.Guest review byŠtěpánkaCzech Republic - Review score

I think Sokolov is quite underestimated as a tourist attraction. There is a wonderful downtown square, and a worth seeing Coal Minors' house. We had some meal at the restaurant Galeria situated at the main square. Nice staff and meal. Strongly recommend it. ot far from Sokolov there is a Bernard's State, It is a wonderful place with a pleasnt atmosphere in the midst of nature.Guest review byNataliaCzech Republic - Review score

Lovely small town with a beautiful castle/ chateau where you can also see the relics of St Maur and you can have a lovely lunch or a coffee and cake in a wonderful cafe there. Great choice of soups! It was also interesting to read about the history of the gallows on the way up to Execution hill.Guest review byVendulaCzech Republic - Review score

Came for the Karlovy Vary half marathon, on a complete random pick. Was pleasantly surprised by this magical destination. If we had more times, there is great hiking to explore and fancy hotels like the Pupp to dress up and have dinner or afternoon tea.Guest review byTurk
