I highly recommend the free walking tours.

I highly recommend the free walking tours. I would also prefer to stay outside the old town where it is a bit more quiet. If you are coming by train from Cesky Budejovice just take a cab directly $40 instead because dragging your roller bags is not fun on cobblestones.

I was there twice and never didn't take enough time for detailled exploring city and surroundings. Main square is really big and in neighbourhood streets there is really great choice for drinking beer or coffee, to take traditional or modern style lunch, to research historical buildings. The concentration of bars is even bigger than in Brno, Plzen or Karlovy Vary. Although, there are many sights in walking distance, prices are very reasonble and place itself is a great hub for exploring close destinations, such a Česky Krumlow (30 min), Tabor with Chocholate museum (45 min), Hluboka nad Vltavou castle (15 min), Telč (1:15 min), etc. I recommend for at least 3 days staying, peak season is summer.

    This is a cyclist's paradise!

This is a cyclist's paradise! There are countless trails that come and go around the complex system of lakes in this region. Each day you can go in a new direction, and come back to the lovely town of Třeboň. The architecture and ambiance of Southern Bohemia is historic but never overstated. If you love nature and history, this place is a necessary stop on your trip!

Everything was just amazing. Well equipped and you can find anything you need. The only thing we faced was I didn’t like it’s when We arrived late at night and it wasn’t so clear from where to pick up the keys, picking keys is from a related hotel about 5 minutes drive.

Just an hour by train from Prague, Tabor is an overlooked gem. This medieval town was a base for the famous Hussite general Jan Žižka, a military genius during the Hussite wars (1400s), when Protestant leader Jan Hus and his followers took on the might of the Catholic church. Jan Žižka never lost a battle, despite losing an eye during the war. The town is a walled fortress on a hill with a maze of underground tunnels which has swallowed invading armies. There is also a district of Prague named after Jan Žižka in Prague: Žižkov. See the movie 'Medieval' (Žižka in Czech) for more about this period of Czech history.

if you hiking, biking, running, swimming, fishing, or just wishing to have silence - it is excellent place but do not forget to have food with you because super/restaurant is closing too early and nothing you can find in the city suggest renting car because it is very small city and one central street of 100-200 meters, no more. .. but city itself has nothing to see inside. after 19:00 you can find only alcohol everywhere and not any small piece of food :-) ...

Pisek is known as "Little Prague."

Pisek is known as "Little Prague." It is a lovely, historic town on the Otava River with great restaurants and cafes, a stone bridge that is older than Charles Bridge in Prague, an interesting city museum, and easy access to numerous hiking and bicycling trails. Great castles (e.g. Orlik, Zvikov) are nearby. It was liberated by the US 3rd Army at the end of WWII. Well worth a visit!

We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed Cesky Krumlov and the surrounding area. The house is set up well and spotless. Everything you need is there. It overlooks a pasture and is next to the local lake. You are in rural CR and it is fantastic. The surroundings give you a great feel of the "real" Czech Republic. Very highly recommended.
