Oban is a buzzing lovely town, easily accessible to so many beautiful places including the Islands by ferry. Plenty of places to eat and drink, plenty of shops in easy waking distance as are the sights.would recommended the Fish Shack at the Ferry Terminal if you love seafood and a Scottish real Ale in Weathersoons nextdoor, excellent price and quality. Thumbs up for Oban👍🍻Guest review byO'Donnell - Review score
Beautiful quiet location, stunning scenery.
Beautiful quiet location, stunning scenery. The Village Inn was great. Staff were super friendly and welcoming. Restaurant had good menu choices both for dinner and breakfast. We'd booked this for our last night in Scotland before our return flight, would have loved to stay longer.Guest review byJacquelineUnited Kingdom - Review score
Tobermory is nice.
Tobermory is nice. But the tiny windowless mixed dorm at Harbour Guest House was a nightmare. My review was followed by a blast from manager Amy (I never met her) who blasted me without knowing my experience. The manager I met was very blunt in his condemnation of my concerns. Amy says I refused a refund. Not true. The manager refused, saying I had to email booking.com and maybe they would refund me. I found somewhere else to stay and never stayed in that pit. P.S. comments from the "nice elderly gentleman" were uncomfortable for me. I expect I will hear again from the manager who I never met.Guest review byGlennaCanada - Review score
Sweet and picturesque lakeside village.
Sweet and picturesque lakeside village. We did some beautiful walks- enjoyed boat ride around loch and spent a few hours on idyllic island in loch. A couple of small gift shops and a village store with fantastic cakes and essential supplies. A nice hotel and small restaurant/ cafe to eat in . We had a car and drive to other nearby lochs and had breathtaking drive up to glencoe and glen elive….. iconic James Bond sky-fall location. Will definitely come back.Guest review bytraceyUnited Kingdom - Review score

Inveraray Jail, was amazing to see what jail life was like n the 1600s Very first item we saw was a man who stole 2 horses, and a cheese he was hung for his crime, couldn't stop thinking about it all day.. Really need to see it for yourself to understand how bad life was back then. Inveraray Castle was beautiful and so interesting, had a lovely tea outside before looking round the gardens and walking through the grounds. Inveraray Bell Tower is fantastic too once you climb the 176 steps, you can see amazing views..Guest review byjanejackcarUnited Kingdom - Review score

Sadly Rothesay itself is a bit run down like many old victoriana seaside towns . I imagine it was wonderful in its time. Didn't have time to visit rest of island but there is a hop on hop off bus tourGuest review byFionaUnited Kingdom - Review score
Ideal stop for Kennacraig ferry to Iskay.
Ideal stop for Kennacraig ferry to Iskay. We were there with glorious sunshine so views of Tarbert habour were amazing, picture post card stuff. There are a few restaurants and pubs. The red herring restaurant seemed to be the local fish & chip takeaway, although it is a higher end seafood dining restaurant.Guest review byPeterUnited Kingdom - Review score

We drifted through a couple of times and stopped for coffee, petrol and supplies - didn’t seem much else to encourage us to stay. Has a slightly run down feel about it, which is a shame. We thought there would be more to do and stay for.Guest review bychung-cheeUnited Kingdom - Review score

A tired looking little town, very few people about and not much traffic. Lovely bay and interesting views. Quite clean but shops are dated and not very touristy. We might go again…if not just for the breakfast at The St Ives Boutique Hotel!Guest review byChris & BeverlyUnited Kingdom - Review score

I had two very good evening meals at La Barca Spanish Tapas & Wine Bar, you'll probably need to book your table and I had an excellent Cullen Skink lunch at the Riva Boutiique Hotel. I found Helensburgh a very good base for touring round a most beautiful part of Scotland.Guest review bySteveUnited Kingdom
