We started and finished our walking holiday in Melrose.
We started and finished our walking holiday in Melrose. We had never visited before but we really liked this lovely town. We enjoyed exploring the area, it is very beautiful. We visited the Kings Arms, my husband was delighted there was real ale on sale and the food was great. The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. The ice cream shop near the Abbey was lovely too. I would certainly visit Melrose again. Very good for walking, not too busy with traffic.Guest review byLynnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Very nice Borders town on the confluence of the River Tweed and the River Teviot. Weather was excellent which always help. Nice town to walk around with excellent riverside walks. Floors Castle gardens, which is very close, is worth a visit too.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Jedburgh is a lovely town - although we didn't find many places to eat and the Spread Eagle doesn't serve evening meals. We had a good meal at the Carters Rest - very friendly staff and good food. Because we had to leave early on the following morning the "interesting" shops weren't open. Do make a point of visiting Mary Queen of Scots house in the town - very interesting. We didn't get to the Jail.Guest review byMarianUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Hawick Park is fantastic and well worth a visit, as is the museum in the park. The town is a bit run down unfortunately, but there are still a few nice cafes etc. Hawick is well situated to visit other towns etc and also has some good walks in the countryside.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

It was a lovely place, a step back in time where everyone is friendly, the place is quaint and there’s everything you need from small shops like a local bakery etc, no big shopping centre, and that’s the way it should stay. Too much beauty to put in writing, see for yourself, we went on a budget and got much more than we bargained for.Guest review byAnthonyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

This property had a lovely feel to it the moment you walked through the door.It was well planned and flowed easily making for a relaxing and sociable stay for our large group. details like the large and thoughtful welcome pack, bath robes and extra towels for the hot tub were much appreciated. Our stay was too short to fully enjoy all the potential of this wonderful property.and its surrounding area. A car is essential as you are slightly off the beaten track but it is an excellent spot from which to explore this beautiful area.Guest review byLizUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Selkirk is a pleasant, friendly Borders town.
Selkirk is a pleasant, friendly Borders town. There are strong associations with Sir Walter Scott and the town is a good location for visiting other Border sites of interest. Locally there are good walks and several areas of interest in walking distance. Being located in the Southern Uplands the town is quite hilly but the town centre offers easier walking. One downside is that it lies on the A7 a main route so expect some heavy traffic at times through the town centre. Even this can be of benefit as it also means there is a good bus service between Selkirk and Edinburgh as well as bus links to the wider Borders area via Galashiels so there is not necessarily a need for travel by car.Guest review byjamesUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Our day there coincided with shops day off.
Our day there coincided with shops day off. But not many shops there anyway. We watched the cyclists on Tour of Britain cycling through and had a coffee. We returned to the hotel and visited the Bar for refreshment and a chat to both staff and customers. We had a really enjoyable dinner in the dining room, which has lots of Coldstream Guards memorabilia, all of which was interesting.Guest review byGrahamUnited Kingdom - 10.0
