We loved our stay, it was just an overnight stay as we had an early flight. Being situated runway side we relaxed watching the aircraft. There was no noise from the aircraft meaning we could sleep before our flight. Breakfast was welcome before heading for check in.Guest review byZoeUnited Kingdom - Review score
Colchester doesn't really have a lot going for it.
Colchester doesn't really have a lot going for it. The castle is really worth a visit. There weren't the Roman remains that my husband was hoping for as a lot has been built on. It's very much a working town. But maybe we didn't do enough research to get the best out of it. Bus service is good and saves trying to drive and park through the town.Guest review byAndrinaUnited Kingdom - Review score

Plenty to do around Clacton by car or feet.. we choose feet! Day at various arcades.. can be expensive, but loads of 2p machines still. if go to the pier (you have too) look at buy pre tickets for whole day, much better value. Day on the beach. Also lots places to eat and drink, again prices vary so look into this in advance if you wish to save some pennies!Guest review byCarlUnited Kingdom - Review score

My advice to anyone visiting Harlow would be to avoid the shopping areas and head to the many green spaces as well as follow the amazing art trail ... There are sculptures by Rodin, Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth amongst others around the town ..Guest review bySarah - Review score
Chelmsford is a very pretty place .
Chelmsford is a very pretty place . The people are so friendly but unfortunately I cannot walk long distances so I could not get to see it all . But we'll worth a visit. We had breakfast in the Range shop which was quite nice. Plenty of places to eat. ...there is street food also like paella...beautiful arrangements of home made breads The shops are so many you would need a day to see it all. There are a row of markets do there is plenty to see.Guest review byLewis - Review score

Braintree is a very historic town with glimpses of a medieval past in its narrow lanes around the town centre. It has suffered from a decline after its main local industry closed down. It could be a lovely place if there was investment in it because a number of traditional buildings still stand, and it has a good sized centre for an upgrade to take place. There's a nice local park near Coggeshall Road and the station. Sadly, there's an ugly multistorey car park near the run down shopping area with a few cafes and low priced shops. Very sad to see it so neglected. Maybe local councillors could take a look at towns like Ludlow or Chichester to see how they've protected the historic heart of their home towns. Happy to return again though. Good luck Braintree people.Guest review byPauline - Review score

The Marygreen Manor is a beautiful hotel and I would recommend it, I didn't spend much time in central Brentwood so my opinion wouldn't be helpful to others but it is close to the M25 so very convenient, the Shell petrol garage near Junction 28 M25 is to be avoided at peek times, its just chaos trying to get in or out again, you've been warned!Guest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - Review score

We arrived for 1 night stay , nobody there as we arrived Key was in key box and did not work , we went into the pub to ask for help to be told it was nothing to do with them but she would try to contact someone, a man came and finally opened our room and to say we were disappointed was an understatement , tiny , dark , dirty , soap dispensers were empty , bedding smelled We had to sleep with door unlocked in case we couldn't get out again ! Looked like door had been kicked previously.Guest review byPAULUnited Kingdom - Review score

The position of the Hotel was ideal to get to where we needed to be. The Hotel setting was lovely, over the lake. Also, after being out all day, it was so convenient to just walk over to the Festival leisure park to find somewhere to eat. A very nice and convenient Hotel. Harvesters, and Wagamama were both good choices to eat.Guest review byGeorgeUnited Kingdom - Review score
