FAQs about hotels on Andros
A Perfect Combination of Culture and Fun
A favoured weekend destination, the island of Andros is only an hour and a half away from Athens. Named after Andros, a hero descending from the line of God Apollo, this beautiful island features traditional villages, golden beaches, high mountains, small rivers and green valleys.
Featuring great nautical tradition and home to famous Greek sailors, Andros is not similar with any other island in the Cyclades. This small paradise is a great cultural destination thanks to its many museums and their unique collections of paintings, sculptures and archaeological exhibits.
The lovely Chora is the capital of Andros and one of the most popular villages of the island. Wander around the narrow alleys, admire the Neoclassical and Venetian-style houses, and admire the beautiful stone bridge.
Rich in history, the island has several towers including the tower of Ayios Petros and Fryktoria. Built by Venetians, the Pano Kastro was the largest city in Andros during the Middle Ages.
Built over a gorgeous natural harbour, the resort of Batsi has a sandy beach, shallow waters and nice taverns serving local specialties. Booking.com has a great selection of hotels, apartments and guest houses in the magnificent Batsi.

International cuisine but look for the hidden gems in little back streets with local food. Local taxi service in the square -but walk...its healthier! We had no children with us but this isnt 'waterworld'....take the kids to some fantastic quiet beaches away from the hoi polloi- theyll have more of an adventure of discovery.Guest review bySteveUnited Kingdom - Review score
Andros is an underestimated destination.
Andros is an underestimated destination. The island has more than 10 beautiful beaches, reasonable prices, 2hrs from Athens but most importantly is not spoiled from over tourism like the rest of Cyclades. People are still hospitable Greek and then mood traditionally tranquil. If you are looking for an original Greek summer experience this is the place. Only downside is the road network which is limited and too narrow and can be a bit overwhelming for folks outside Mediterranean .Guest review byLeonidasGreece - Review score
We were there in May so not quite season.
We were there in May so not quite season. It’s very small but served as a good base to visit the island. Some good tavernas. Bit nothing else to do there. Not a beach nearby that is nice for swimming or tanning so would probably recommend Batsi over Gavrio.Guest review byChristineNamibia - Review score

This is an ideal place if you don't like to be in the capital city with a lot of noise and traffic. You are far enough from the street and have your own peace and quiet, and at the same time you are very close to the city where there is entertainment and an active nightlife. Everything you need is in the area, restaurants, shops, beaches etcGuest review byMiroslav PetrovicSerbia - Review score

This is an amazing natural beach, some parts are sandy and others with small white pebbles. Not a lot of people around on the time of my visit (June). The surrounding landscape is beautiful. There is a small tavern above the beach.Guest review byMichael PapaioannouGreece - Review score
Ano Aprovato presents an optimal setting for hiking...
Ano Aprovato presents an optimal setting for hiking enthusiasts. Beginners can embark on a picturesque route stretching from the western region to the heart of Andros, connecting with the semi-mountainous village of Ano Aprovato. This path predominantly traces the historic trail traversing the western and southern slopes of Mount Petalo. It maintains a relatively level trajectory, offering captivating vistas spanning from the mountain's coastal edge to the island's interior. Spectacular panoramas unfold, encompassing views of the sea, the valley of Megalos Potamos River, and the coastal town of Chora with its twin bays. For more seasoned hikers seeking a challenge, there's a 10.9km point-to-point trail near Ano Aprovato. This route, deemed moderately demanding, typically requires around 3 hours and 15 minutes to complete. Ideal for both hiking and running, this trail promises solitude amidst nature's embrace, with encounters with fellow explorers being rare. Accessible year-round, it boasts timeless beauty, beckoning adventurers at any season.Guest review byDimitrisGreece - Review score
A beautiful picturesque village.
A beautiful picturesque village. It is amphitheatrical with houses on the hills surrounding the port and the beach. It has a variety of restaurants along the port and beach with reasonable prices. Everything is within walking distance and most of the houses and villas are linked to the port with many steps. However we enjoyed climbing them as we considered it good exercise and part of the Batsi experience.Guest review byStellaCyprus - Review score

Chora of Andros is an absolute delight — a place where history, culture, and natural beauty come together in perfect harmony. Strolling through its charming alleys feels like stepping into a postcard, with elegant neoclassical buildings, blooming bougainvillaea, and the peaceful rhythm of island life all around. There’s so much to discover: fascinating museums that tell the story of Andros’ rich heritage, cozy taverns serving delicious local dishes, and lovely shops filled with traditional products and handcrafted gifts. The vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere makes it a joy to explore at your own pace. The town is just steps from the sea, offering stunning views and peaceful spots to sit and take it all in. You’ll also find beautiful monuments and historical landmarks scattered throughout, adding depth and meaning to every walk. Chora is the perfect destination to relax, connect with nature, and soak up the authentic spirit of the Cyclades — a place that stays with you long after you leave.Guest review byAnonymousUnited Kingdom - Review score

This destination is delightful, offering a wide array of culinary options. The local cheeses are exceptional, and you'll discover restaurants that cater to both casual diners and those seeking a more upscale experience. The ambiance is tranquil, making it an ideal retreat. Renting a car is advisable to fully explore the island’s beauty. While September may be slightly cooler, it also offers a more serene atmosphere.Guest review byAnonymous
