Stayed at Hotel Park Plava Laguna and overall had a pleasant experience. The hotel is clean, well-maintained, and has a modern, tasteful design. The staff were professional and friendly, and the general atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly. Rooms are comfortable and decently equipped, with everything you need for a short stay. The pool area is nice, and the beach is just a short walk away, which is a big plus.

The hotel has a fantastic location — close enough to Pula for easy access, yet tucked away in a peaceful and quiet area. The beach and pool area are beautiful, and the wellness facilities were also a great addition. We had the half board option, and it was definitely worth it — there was a wide variety of food, and everything we tried tasted amazing. We also really appreciated the flexibility of the staff, who kindly allowed us to check in early and continue using the hotel facilities even after check-out.

FAQs about hotels in Istria

Land of History, Sun and Wine

The land of stony beaches, sapphire seas and rocky mountains, Istria is the largest peninsula of the Adriatic Sea. It’s a popular tourist destination famous for its cuisine, weather and wine.

Istria has been a part of many powerful empires: the Byzantine, Roman, Venetian, Austro-Hungarian and more recently, Yugoslavian. Each of them has left an easily recognisable mark on the architecture, giving you an opportunity for a crash course in the region’s fascinating past just by travelling around.

The Brijuni Islands are a must-see for that reason. They were once President Tito’s private property with a large zoo, over 200 dinosaur footprints and a never-ending stream of international guests, including heads of state and Hollywood film stars.

Located near the Brijuni is the largest city of the Istria region, Pula, best-known for the beautiful Roman architecture and tranquil countryside surrounding it, as well as for its winemaking and fishing traditions.

Whether you’re visiting Pula or other towns like Pazin, Porec or Opatija, make sure to visit local restaurants and try Italian-influenced dishes with famous Istrian peppers, truffles and seafood. Finish your meal with grappa or a glass of sweet wine - the best comes from the Kalavojna region.

Istria is a diverse region and Booking.com offers equally diverse properties. From boutique hotels to comfortable apartments, you have a range of nearly 600 properties to choose from.

Pula is lovely and interesting city.

Pula is lovely and interesting city. Where we stayed was comfortable and had good access to the city and other areas. We did feel though that the prices in the central part of the city were a high. So one needs to really look outside the main tourist areas for better value for money meals especially.

The town of Rovinj is beautiful, it is a very pretty place to wonder around and sit and relax. I was there out of season and I loved finding lots of very quiet beaches. There are some lovely walks you can do in this area with stunning view of the coast. The only downside with going out of season was that things like boat trips werent running and there were not many bises running to places nearby. Quite a few of the resturants were not open but the ones that were were really good and great value for money.

Lovely town, great for exploring, beautiful walk around the old town with swimming spots all around. Great for shopping, lovely restaurants, easy to navigate and excellent parking. Along the harbour you can catch a boat trip which is easy to do and well worth it, whatever you choose. You can also get a boat over to Venice for the day, perfect!

The town of Umag has a charming coastal feel particularly at the historic centre. There are plenty of food options, lovely sunsets and a motorised 'train' to transport people from their resorts and hotels to the town for only 4€. Prices overall are very reasonable compared to other European destinations.

Vrsar is atmospheric and unspoiled. It is off the main road and the coastal walking and cycle path joins effortlessly to other camping areas, family resorts and huge FKK. Harbourside restaurants are recently augmented by hilltop cafe bars, with live music, accessed most easily by the cute road train. A total delight.

The Kamenjak park is fantastic and although in august it was really full of people, we could find a nice place where to swim without too many people. We went around with the bike and in general we could follow paths where car were not allowed, otherwise it was a bit annoying because there were a lot of cars. We ate at the Safari bar, it was full of people but they are very well organized and the food is good and reasonable priced. Probably, the best would be to go in June or September when there are less people. It would be nice if car were not allowed or at least if there was a maximum number allowed.
