La Spezia is mildly interesting in an of itself and has good restaurants and shops, but for many tourists it is mainly a good place to stay when visiting Cinque Terre (the 5 towns to the north) by train. The train ride is quick and cheap.Guest review byCoryUnited States - 8.0
We visited Sanremo on the way from Spain.
We visited Sanremo on the way from Spain. We knew about this city as its name is really famous to us and so we were a little bit surprised that there weren´t that many turists (which of course was pleasant). The city itself was really nice - small streets old town, the harbour, all the little shops, restaurants and bars. We also appreciated very much the cyklo route that stretches far in both directions alongside the coast from the city (magnificent views of the sea, very nice surroundings). What really amazed us was all the lush flora in the city and its surroundings. We wish we had at least one more day for the visit.Guest review byJanCzech Republic - 10.0

A great resort - we stayed in La Spaggia, a hotel on the promenade c/w balcony overlooking the beach with the backdrop of the mountains. The train station is a walk away so easy access to the rest of the Cinque Terre villages, a maximum of a 6 minute ride away to each. There are plenty of bars and ., shops etc. We had a sunset boat ride along the coast which is a must with a company called Sea Breeze which was informative and fun - the staff lovely. It's a fabulous holiday location - clean, and the people so friendly and helpful. Viva Italia.Guest review bySandraUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Rapallo is a lovely town, with great facilities.
Rapallo is a lovely town, with great facilities. We used it as a hub to travel by public transport to the places we wanted to visit. We went by ferry to Portofino (or bus, if the weather stops the ferries running) and by train to Genoa, Pisa and Cinque Terre.Guest review bymarie0812Australia - 10.0
Lovely town with many shops, restaurants and plenty to do.
Lovely town with many shops, restaurants and plenty to do. The beach and the sea looked very inviting even in winter! Easy to walk around and we found it very easy to visit nearby towns using trains which are reasonably priced and comfortable. Not easy to park near the centre, but there are several car parks for a reasonable hourly rate.Guest review byClaudiaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Perfect place to stay if you want to visit Portofino.
Perfect place to stay if you want to visit Portofino. Relaxed and laidback. Promenade with lots of restaurants. Great beach. Ferry or bus to other villages. Feels Italian, not as pricey and touristy as Portofino.Guest review byNiclasSweden - 8.0
A nice town with some good restaurants and a small beach.
A nice town with some good restaurants and a small beach. Ideal as a base to visit the Cinque Terra from, as not so busy but only 5 to 20 mins on the train to see all the villages. Bar Levanto is perfect for a drink after a sight seeing visit.Guest review bySteveUnited Kingdom - 10.0
We loved the beach which was directly across the road.
We loved the beach which was directly across the road. We ate at the beach and it was good food. We mostly stayed at the beach most of the day and we appreciated the parking at the hotel. We loved playing in the water and just relaxing at the beach for the day. The hotel was a convenient location and was very clean and the host was very friendly and helpful.Guest review byNathan - 10.0

It was good to stay at one end of the string of five towns, take the ferry to the other end, and work our way back. Riomaggiore seemed to have more dining options than the other towns except for Monterroso, and wasn't too costly.Guest review byAnonymous
