Room was well climatized and nice, spacious enough. All the staff was super friendly. Breakfast was generally a good variety of Italian breakfast options. We appreciated the comfort of a baby bed supplied to us. We also were allowed to check in earlier - that was super helpful.

English: The stay at the Hotel La Mela in Varcaturo was very nice. We were allowed to check in earlier than agreed and we received a very warm welcome! The rooms were clean and the staff very friendly and very helpful! The hotel manager Giovanni greeted the guests every morning for breakfast and made sure that everything was fine. We felt at home! And if there was ever a problem, they dealt with it immediately. Unfortunately, the drain in my shower was a bit blocked by toilet paper (my own fault) and my room was a bit wet. When I returned in the evening, my room looked super clean, as if nothing had ever happened. Because my father was not very good at walking and we did not have a rental car, Giovanni was also kind enough to provide us with a driver who drove us to the beach and back. We were also able to easily book a transfer to the Reggia di Caserta with the reception within a few minutes by paying the usual rates. We had to leave before breakfast time, so the reception and Giovanni were kind enough to offer us breakfast at 6 a.m. (normally only from 7 a.m.). All in all, the Hotel La Mela has a lot of heart and from what I have heard from other guests, the Hotel La Mela is better and more reliable than the surrounding hotels, which I can confirm from my own experience. If I were to travel to Varcaturo again, I would always choose the Hotel La Mela! PS: We found the Sfogliatella riccia at the airport last but not least, and they were delicious! The location, although difficult to find on arrival first day--and clear instructions to guests would be most welcome--is stunning, perched high on a hill with panoramic views over the whole countryside and coast. Beautiful, modern property with gorgeous garden at the front. Our room had a large terrace with a jacuzzi, sunbeds and table and chairs. It was too hot to sit out there for most of the day until late afternoon. However, a sun umbrella arrived the morning we left. The property has free onsite parking. Pleasant staff.

Great location - central for exploring the island and walking to lots of different places for dinner / drinks / sightseeing. We wrangled over whether to stay in Marina Corricella nearer to restaurants but opted for somewhere with a pool and space to chill out in the sun - so glad we did. Staff were great and helpful and lunches taken by the pool were also good.

Very well-positioned hotel - almost in the sea, clean room, balcony with amazing view, a small swimming pool, the terrace for breakfast/lunch/dinner is great, delicious food. The access from the bus stop/car parking is not very easy, but if you call the owner, he will come and help or he will send someone to do it. The staff was very nice, helpful, we felt as we were among friends. It is a simple and modest hotel, but in the same time, distinguished and special, at least for us :-)

We stopped in transit on our way to Tropea. My family and I rented two rooms for one night. We arrived late at night and were greeted well. The guy at the reception even opened the bar for us so we could have a few drinks and relax. The breakfast was standard, coffee, croissants, cookies, but it was enough for us.

    Ischia offers a wide variety of entertainment but I choose it for relaxation and the thermal spas. Both exceptions were met and I would definitely return. Taxis are expensive but local buses are readily available. Local food is very good and if one likes walking there are a lot of opportunities for early morning explorations of a good 5-km lengths without any problem for access. the climate is very mild and local people are very pleasant for the most part.

    Depending on the time of year Procida is a little haven with unique, picture book views … very unspoilt and not overdeveloped!!! However, there are a lot of steps to climb up from the little port and to some of the beaches so go prepared!! All in all, having eaten out at most of the restaurants, we had delicious, fresh fish and no disappointing meals … staff were very friendly and the service was good. Finally, the best time to go here would be early or late summer … far more restful and relaxing 😎

    No parking.

    No parking. Many steps to get to the piazza and port and not pedestrian safe. Not geared to tourists. Shops for local consumption mostly. Ok for a day or two but traffic in and out is terrible and not a good base for exploring the area. I found the restaurants good but expensive.

    Beautiful coastal area just a few kms. from Pozzuoli and easy to get to from Naples if you have a car. There is a train line but only seemed to be a few trains a day, and not sure about bus transport. A car for this area is essential to get the most out of it. We went out and about every day exploring the area, which has some wonderful archaeological sites, some dating back to ancient Greek settlements, that are little-known outside of Italy. Lots of pretty beachside cafes.

    +parking, Il breakfast - check in starts at 17 hrs and earlier check in of just 2 hrs involved an extra.Eur 15 .plus shower cubicle not clean and low light in the room. L indirizzo su booking.com is totally different and needs to be amended.

    I used to live here for 2 years.

    I used to live here for 2 years. I like how it is more peaceful than Naples. The restaurants have very good food, especially the pizza a la lenio. I love the markets you have called mercantinos. I love the beaches as well. I don’t like the massive amount of traffic around 10am on Sundays. That’s only in the summer though. All in all I love lago patria.

    We loved the owners of the hotel that we stayed at but as for the town it was a dump with all due respect! It was way out of Naples and access to the beach is impossible without a car, not much affordable transport options in Italy. I would not return to Varcaturo and probably not Italy for that matter. This experience has put us off! The owners of our hotel are the only reason we would consider returning to Italy due to there warm hospitality but sadly wouldn’t stay there again solely due to the location.

    Everywhere except 1 restuarant was closed because of the pandemic. There is no bank and only 1 supermarket. My son was stung by a jellyfish. There is no public transport. The beach is nice and the sea is safe

    Ischia is amazing and a true hidden gem compared to Capri but will all the amazing charm and more. It is bigger than I expected. We rented E-bikes but the bus system around the island is also good. Take a boat tour around the Island to see from the sea *we did a $25 group boat tour on Summer Breeze, highly recommend. It's a very hilly island if you go off the beach so be prepared. Also very little English is spoken here so manage your expectations. Its truly amazing and such lovely people. Was great to see a lot of Italians on holiday here. Please don't be rude to the locals remember you are a visitor and the fact that you don't speak Italian is your problem not theirs. Use google translate when needed and just be respectful. Amazing place with lots to do. Castle is a must do and leave time to explore it!

    It's a beautiful island. Quiet. Small.

    It's a beautiful island. Quiet. Small. Lovely views, restaurants and people. You DO need to be able to walk and climb lots of steps. There are eBikes for hire, scooters and cars, but the streets are tiny and best walked. A great place to unwind. You can also hire boats or book boat trips. Great for sailing.
