FAQs about hotels in Apulia
Rich Legacy and Natural Beauty
One of the richest archaeological regions in Italy, Puglia has received the influx from Greeks, Romans, Goths, Lombards, Byzantines, Normans and Spanish, amongst others. Together with an unusual and amazing landscape, Puglia is an Italian must!
With lower mountains than the rest of the country, it mixes fertile tablelands with dry landscape, rocky plateaus, and green hills. Kissed by the Adriatic and Ionian seas, its crystalline waters, rocky inlets and small sandy coves, well deserves a stay in some of the Puglia hotels on the beach.
Don’t miss the beautiful promontory of Gargano, nor Lecce’s stunning Baroque historic centre. Alberobello’s ‘trulli’ stone houses are a picturesque must. Being Apulia’s capital, Bari offers a number of cultural offer highlights as well as a lively nightlife, also famous in the summer resort of Gallipoli.
Its food is probably one of the best kept Italian secrets. The spaghetti with sea urchins is a typical delicious dish, while the ‘burrata’ cheese melts in your mouth with its creamy centre. You should also try the black olives, the ‘orecchiette’ pasta, and the amazing wines!
Whether you look for Puglia hotels with 5 stars, B&Bs or private villas, don’t miss the wide offer available on Booking.com!

Safe, bustling city.
Safe, bustling city. Wide selection of bars and restaurants. Highly recommend Nicolaus Restaurant if you want fresh fish and to get a way from wall to wall pasta. Lots of churches and history, guided walking tour well worth it. Train Station well placed and good for some day trips out. Generally good value for money. On of the best things about Bari was the short train ride to Trani which was more up market than Bari and much nicer all together. Given a choice I would stay in Trani rather than Bari and have a day trip to Bari. Rough around the edges of Bari city. Lots of Graffiti in and around the city.Guest review byDonUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Great town - large enough to offer lots of dining and entertainment options, but not too big to need to drive around. Located centrally, with lots of beaches and small towns nearby. Food is great. Not too expensive. Highly recommended.Guest review byZarkoUnited States - 10.0
Monopoli was very enjoyable, although rather busy.
Monopoli was very enjoyable, although rather busy. It was cheap compared to other parts of Italy. Very easy on the train from Brindisi where we flew into, and very easy to get to other towns on the train. Unfortunately the main beach in the town is currently closed off. Lovely restaurants and roof top terraces to enjoy the views. Go to Bella Blu and try the ice cream with extra virgin olive oil - it's a real eye opener! Can highly recommend a bike tour through the olive groves.Guest review byAnneUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Welcoming little town with a charming medieval village, bubbly squares and stunning view points from the cliffs to the great blue sea below. Water is clear, you can see fish from outside the water! great temperature for swimming, even in May. Easy to walk around to the historical centre and to the Ermit island, on the paved pathway. Great food, amazing coffee and stunning ice-creams! Plus… it’s the land of Domenico, so it’s impossible not to sing Volare oh oh oh along as you go. Poetry can be found in nearly every little corner on the medieval town… truly relaxing and inspiring place. Also easy access by train from Bari and by car to Alberobello and Castellana Grotte!Guest review byDeboraUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Ostuni is ok for a visit travelling in a car and staying at various places otherwise too rural for us unless you are a fan of Olive trees by the thousand. You need a car and I would stay near the sea if was to visit again. Way too hot , probably a Spring place to visit.Guest review byZoeUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Its easy to do a day trip to Alborobello but you miss what the town looks like at sunset and when all the fairy lights come on so i would advise do at least one night. Easy to base yourself there and do day trips to Monopoli/Polignamare. There is a bus twice daily at height of summer to Ostuni. so loads of travel options. Do not be afraid to use the public transport system of bus and train!!Guest review byjoanneIreland - 10.0

Vieste is really interesting and pretty old town and the people are friendly. Good standard of restaurants and not overpriced. There's a port where we hired a boat or you can get a boat trip. Some parts are very steep but worth walking up for the views. We stayed on the beach, a 25 min walk in along the beach but worth it or there's a bus for 2 euros p.p Would definitely recommend it :)Guest review byJonnyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Gallipoli is one of the most beautiful places in Apulia.
Gallipoli is one of the most beautiful places in Apulia. Only perhaps Lecce and Matera can compete with it, but both of those places lack the close by seaside that Gallipoli features. In Gallipoli you can spend your day enjoying dolce far niente at the beach and go and dine in one of the many great restaurants in town. The town, built onto an island on the waterfront, is very neat and developed out of medieval times and has many well maintained old and beautiful buildings. If you plan a trip to Apulia, Gallipoli is a must see!Guest review byMartinSwitzerland - 8.0

Otranto is a beautiful city with lots of intriguing history. The facilities are excellent with plenty of places to eat in the evening. It also provides a convenient gateway to both drive south along the beautiful coast and visit the city of Lecce.Guest review byPeterUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Lovely for a short visit to walk and explore and visited the historical museum which is free and delightful. A good base to explore, Puglia , Lecce, Ostuni, and Gallipoli. Get to know the hidden south. Do your research and see another Italy rich in history.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom
