Lovely welcome , nice breakfast. Main restaurant was over in pub across quiet road in gated development.Good choice of meals of excellent quality.. Staff very aware of us enjoying the music being played. One member of staff allowed us to choose our own music on their apple music account so we could have a singalong.

The house was beautiful located right within the hills with a stunning view. The room was spotless and beautifully presented. The shower and bathroom facilities were also great. It looks just like the photos. We had a three course dinner at the property with a beer each costing 9,900 rupees total it was amazing (see photos). All in all I would recommend this to anyone and would defiantly go back!

The suites were mind blowing. The views were to die for. The landscaping with the flowers really made me smile. The property is brand new and the rooms were large and spacious. The manager DELUXAN really took extra care to ensure we were comfortable and made all arrangements like nespresso etc available.

I absolutely loved Cottage San Francesco. I had only booked for one night and extended my stay because of how much I enjoyed it. I spent quite a long time researching hotels in the area before booking this one, but genuinely don’t waste your time looking elsewhere and get this one booked - it is wonderful! The beds are so premium and luxurious and comfortable that getting out of them to go and see NE was very difficult indeed! But the excellent breakfast and warm smiles of the people working there made it a bit easier to finally get out of bed! Everything in the room was super clean and comfortable and my mountain views were outstanding. The hosts are so so kind and extremely helpful. Every question I asked was met with quick and informative answers. They even checked in during the day to check I was doing ok and having a good time. I read some comments that mentioned the location being a little far out, but actually for visiting the nicest tea plantations (Damro and Blueview) it is very well placed. It is also not too far from the town at all and the location means that it benefits from the amazing views that it has. Will only stay here when I return to the area.

    In the town you can visit colonial buildings (including the...

    In the town you can visit colonial buildings (including the post office), Victoria Garden, Lake Gregory (that is probably a tuk tuk ride). There are opportunities to shop for gems. We also visited a number of very picturesque waterfalls, again a short tuk tuk ride away. We enjoyed plenty of hiking options a short car ride away from Nuwara Eliya. One segment of the Pekoe Trail starts in the nearby village of Kandapolla and it is the place where to take pictures of Sri Lankan countryside. The Horton Plains are also a car ride away. Nuwara Eliya is probably the coldest town in Sri Lanka. Make sure you pack warm clothes!

    A nice area to do a lot of treks amongst the tea plantations . central location if you need to drive up to hill station of Nuwera Eliya or experience the wild life at Horton Plains, A lot of Hindu Kovils to explore in town of Hatton and Tea Factory experience at Dunkeld Tea Factory.

    Besides doing the incredibly beautiful hike to Adams Peak, you can hire a tuktuk driver to guide you to Morey's Waterfall. the best waterfall we got to hike to in Sri lanka, challenging 1 hour hike but you'll get to stroll thru lush tea plantations and walk along side Lake Morey.

    If you are into budget travel and want a genuine local...

    If you are into budget travel and want a genuine local experience, NanuOya is a good town to visit. It’s very close to the main tourist town Nuwara Eliya (approx 9km away) and has buses heading there every 20mins. You can also get there by train. The locals are very helpful and kind. You get a few places to eat food like South Indian dishes and koththu and a few places to buy liquor from. There are two waterfalls and the larger, wider one located inside the Glassough tea estate is a place where you can bathe in on a sunny day. It’s a lovely little town surrounded by tea estates!

    The location is off-the-beaten track a bit if that’s what you like. Personally coming from England I didn’t need to see Nuwara Elyia (little England), little point when I live in England! I enjoyed being in the middle of nowhere and in a peaceful environment before hitting the city of Kandy.

    Rustic, steeped in history, friendly, fascinating. We stayed one night which was perfect. This is a working village, agriculture, farming and TEA. The tour of the tea plantation, small boutique factory for processing an subsequent tasting is not to be missed. Forget the large FACTORY Tea tours... This is personal and ORGANIC... with great Tea. Meena is the smiliest busiest person we have met. We arrived at Ambewela Train station. Could be good to ask for transport in advance... WE still managed to grab a Tuk Tuk with some help. The road down to Warwick Gardens is steep!

    What a cool little town.

    What a cool little town. Our stay was too short & we wish we could have stayed longer. It was nice to be in the mountains, the scenery is amazing. We loved visiting the tea plantations and it was nice to be somewhere cool, in fact it got very cold but it was enjoyable after the heat in the south. The days were nice and warm. We had 2 very nice meals on our stay. One at Cool Land Hot Hut, a great local cafe down some stairs. An awesome vibe and great prices for authentic local foods. The other was at the bar on the roundabout in the centre of town opposite the Windsor Hotel. It was a nice beer garden to sit & watch the evening unfold.

    Hatton is the second largest city in Nuwara Eliya District has so many places to visit.The Adams peak is the most venerated place in the area.Many reserviors and watterfalls can see in this area.Seven virgin mountains,Sri pada Forest can be explored during the stay.

    Do not climb on Saturdays as you will most probably not be able to reach the top. It was over-crowded and the path is narrow the last 500 meters. Got stuck in one spot for 45 minutes and decided to turn around. Still got amazing views though and the experience of local pilgrimage which was a privilege!

    Even with a few charming British buildings here and there, the town is rather ordinary, and not particularly walkable. For the real magic of Nuwara Eliya, it's best to hire a guide to take you to the outskirts of town to see the tea plantations, hiking trails, viewpoints, and waterfalls.
