Quiet.cosy. Private. Breezy rooftop during summer night. Pretty much at the end of the busy-ness of medina. Established at the mountain side and facing the medina. Short walking distance into the medina as well as the hiking trails. Lovely breakfast at the garden. Overall perfect for us.

The hotel was absolutely stunning. Each room was special (both the guest rooms and the common rooms). I looked forward to an incredible breakfast served every morning on the rooftop. The staff were of the highest quality: they picked us up at the airport (even though our flight was delayed by several hours late, arriving after midnight) they made great dinner recommendations/reservations (and even drove us there in a golf cart!) They were ready and willing to help us in any way possible...really top notch. Also, the location was perfect, just a block or so to the medina.

The room was spacious and well appointed, with a firm but comfortable bed. The buffet breakfast provided a nice variety of items, including eggs cooked to order. The hotel is in a relatively quiet area of town. It's very close to the beach and a 15 minute walk will get you to the medina. It is also just a few blocks from several restaurants providing lunch/ dinner. Best of all, the staff was very pleasant and attentive.

On this trip, we were in Tangier, Fes and Marrakesh.

On this trip, we were in Tangier, Fes and Marrakesh. Hands down Tangier was my favorite of the 3 cities. The daytime medina was easy to navigate (although we were told to stay out after dark as it was dangerous). The weather at the end of May was perfect. We spent day 1 walking around essentially without a map and never feeling lost. We spent day 2 with a driver seeing the various sites that were a bit further away. Cave of Hercules is a bit over priced but I don't regret going. Cafe Hafa had awful food service (although the tea service was almost instantaneous) but I would return again. We had dinner at the Restaurant Saveur de Poisson (2 min walk). The fish was amazing but there was definitely too much food and I'm glad our waiter forgot to bring the soup so I had room in my stomach for the last course of fish and the amazing dessert.

Its a beautiful town to get lost in.

Its a beautiful town to get lost in. Local people are generally very friendly & welcoming. Enjoyed getting bread from the traditional bakery. View from kasbah is wonderful. Town is full of cats. Some are healthy and well looked after, but there were a few that looked sick. It broke my heart. I wish something was done to help control cat population & keep them healthy.

Very hilly but taxis very cheap.

Very hilly but taxis very cheap. Not a place for those who have walking problems. The day starts slowly and quiet until about 1pm when streets become very busy and a bit claustrophobic. A trip to the Beach at Martil definitely worth it. If you can take public transport/shared taxis to sights as it is so inexpensive. A 1 hour plus trip in a luxury coach to the Blue City cost just over 5 euros for two adults (seniors). Definitely worth a visit to see a more real Morocco but if you want the touristy vibe head to Marrakech .

The riad we stayed at was within the old walls of the medina. The area was a delight and was kept clean by a population who obviously took pride in where they lived. There were many old narrow (safe) streets to explore in the medina with a lot of shops to buy presents from. The proprietors were never 'pushy' and a good price could always be had with a bit of bargaining. Outside of the medina was the usual hustle and bustle of an Arab town seemingly run with the usual disorganised chaos of most Arab towns we've visited around the world. On a good note we found the restaurants we visited served alcohol although we did bring our own, purchased from a Carrefour supermarket in Meknes.

As noted before, I have lived and worked in Morocco for more than 10 year total over a span of 20 years. Martil is a treasure of a place to relax when one is working. One can walk everywhere in Martil, there are great little markets with fruits, fresh bread, everything, also small cafes and high-end restaurants, Martil is known for fresh fish -- a wonderful small town on a beautiful beach on the warm Mediterrean.

I already went to the hotel with my colleagues for a conference, and I liked the venue so much that I wanted to take my kids there, too. The place is large and very welcoming. The view of the pool, gardens and sea is really breathtaking. The rooms are large and comfortable. The included breakfast is really good and the service is excellent. There are two little things I did not expect, which disturbed me a little but would not change my positive opinion of the place. First, during the check-in, I was asked to add a further amount than what was proposed on my booking, as a deposit for any extra service I may ask for. Because I wasn't ready for that, I didn't have the full amount on me, so that was a bit awkward and uncomfortable for me. I had to sit in the lounge and figure out a way to have the missing amount transferred to my bank account. On the check-out, I was told that they'd return the deposit amount to my account, which hasn't happened yet, so I'll have to wait and see. I would have appreciated knowing about this procedure here on booking.com to avoid the unpleasant surprise on the spot. The second thing was a small leak in the toilet. I would have appreciated some sort of a mop or cleaning towel ready and available in the bathroom, meanwhile the leak gets fixed, so that I would manage the leak before it built up and avoid having to ask or wait for the hotel cleaner to show up. Having said this, I'm still very happy with my stay at the hotel, rank it 10, would definitely go back there and recommend it to my relatives and friends. Thank you!

The ancient site of Lixus is amazing and makes going to Larache worthwhile. The Plaza Espana in the modern town is very atmospheric. There are a few rather run-down hotels in this area. The Medina is quite small and easy to navigate - but it is very squalid. A daytrip from Asilah to Larache and Lixus would be the best bet - overnight is difficult.

Poor breakfast service: The breakfast experience was below expectations, with inattentive staff, long delays, and inconsistent food availability. No working phone in the room: The room phone was not functional throughout my stay, making it impossible to contact reception or room service directly. The service person cam but never fixed the phone. No soap or basic toiletries upon check-in: The room lacked essential hygiene items, such as soap, which should be standard. I had to see the recetion twice to get this resolved. Extremely delayed ice delivery: Ice was requested but delivered only after excessive delay, even after repeated follow-ups. Lack of local tourist information: The front desk only provided a hop-on-hop-off bus schedule. No general city maps or guides were available, which would have been helpful for exploring Tangier. No daily water replenishment: A water bottle was provided only on the day of arrival. No additional water was supplied during the rest of the stay, which is not acceptable for a hotel of your category.

Taj Hotel Chefchouen is an oasis of tranquility just outside the city walls. All members of staff were so gracious and kind from the minute I arrived to the day I left. They were such special people that I wish them to know they will remain in my heart forever. When my guide never showed up to bring me around the old city, the hotel security guard offered to bring me instead and he was so cheerful. Never before in life have I experienced such generosity at a hotel. They are simply the best and I wish I could have stayed for double the time. 5 star experience for sure!
