Nice place to visit and relax.
Nice place to visit and relax. Esp if you from busy place Auckland and want peace of mind ya visit whitianga. Just the right place to leave all your stress and come fresh. Nice natural views and warm ocean swim. Love every bit of it.Guest review byshinalNew Zealand - 10.0
Town's friendliness. The town cat, Helen Clark.
Town's friendliness. The town cat, Helen Clark. The main hotel, pub with its history and well priced Aperol Spritz. The 2 restaurants we went to plus the fish and chip shop. The nearby secluded bays and beaches. The train up the hill.Guest review byCarlosNew Zealand - 8.0
Thames is a pleasant small town with adequate facilities.
Thames is a pleasant small town with adequate facilities. Almost every thing of interest is located on the main street. There are good cafes and a tiny cinema. I would recommend Little Toke for coffee and cake and the restaurant next to it for evening dining. The fish and chips at the wharf are good too. If you are travelling by car a trip up the Kaueraengae is worth the effort.Guest review byHelenNew Zealand - 8.0

We were there to see the wrath of a passing cyclone on the beach and the sea so it was exciting! The wee shop on the corner that sells coffees and deli meats and lovely breads is amazing! The Waihi Beach RSA has great meals too! Def coming back again when the weather is better!Guest review byTeenaNew Zealand - 8.0
This is a family beach holiday destination.
This is a family beach holiday destination. Very down to earth and firmly rooted in the surfing culture. Once a year in Match / April they have a Festival called the Beach Hop which is the largest classic and vintage car meet in NZ and includes music and 1950 / 60’s dance competitions. Classic Cars and their owners were all drifing in to town while we were there - it looked like it would be a spectacular event. We would consider revisiting the town in the future to participate in the Hop.Guest review byNigelAustralia - 10.0
Hahei is a cute little place, ideal for a 2 night stay.
Hahei is a cute little place, ideal for a 2 night stay. Hahei has a beautiful beach and you are also very close to Cathedral Cove and Hot Water beach so it’s a great location. Both these spots are a must when you are visiting Hahei. We walked to Cathedral Cove from our apartment. It took us about 40 min and is a pretty steep incline for the first half of the walk but worth it for the views. We took the water taxi back from the cove to Hahei which was a quick but very fun trip. Hot Water beach is a unique experience. Take your shovel and be sure to check when low tide is before you make the trip over there. The Pour House in Hahei is a great spot to sit and have a drink outside. Their pizzas and fish & chips are also great. There are several other spots for breakfast and coffee too that are also great.Guest review byJulieUnited States - 10.0

We love kayaking in the estuary and up Pepe Stream, boogie boarding in the ocean, and coffees at the cafes. We always visit Kaore Bay (Sailors Grave) up the road as you have trees to sit under, the surf beach and the estuary for kids to play in all in the one spot. There are plenty of bushwalking tracks if that is your thing, and the locals are all really friendly. Tairua is an ideal destination for families.Guest review byTaniaNew Zealand - 10.0
It's a beautiful town with an awesome beach.
It's a beautiful town with an awesome beach. It's close to other towns, so you can make day trips to Whitianga, Matamata, Tauranga, Coromandel, Te Puke, etc. We went to an animal farm, had a beach day, and took a train ride. There are lots of options to eat out, but be aware that the "nightlife" shuts down by 9 p.m.Guest review bySueNew Zealand - 8.0

We tried to get to Hotwater beech, but were slightly late for low tide and could not stay longer for the evening one. We did not expected to spend long time for digging a hole for ourselves as we didn't have a shovel and we heard that place could be very overcrowded. So it was mainly a quick glance on the popular spot :) But we enjoyed another sightseeings nearby.Guest review byIuriiRussia - 8.0
Pauanui is a very pleasant area.
Pauanui is a very pleasant area. It was very quiet while we were there, despite the presence of many classic cars there for the Whangamata Beach Hop. The Cabana restaurant is a great spot for coffee, pastries and take-away pizza.Guest review byIanAustralia
