Paihia is a great place to stay and head to the islands and the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. The ferry port and Treaty Grounds are in easy walking distance from the apartments. The apartment was very well presented and equipped. Gorgeous views. We thank the proprietors for the 'essentials' they provided including chocolate! We didn't realise there wasn't a lift though - carrying lots of luggage up flights of stairs was a bit hard.Guest review byWilliamAustralia - 10.0
Our stay at Little Wine Time was fantastic!
Our stay at Little Wine Time was fantastic! The accommodation is sensational with breathtaking views, modern decor and everything you need for that special stay. Monique was delightful and welcoming. We would stay for at least a week next time, it’s truly beautiful.Guest review byCat_Woman62Australia - 4.0
Kaitaia is a good point to get around the far north.
Kaitaia is a good point to get around the far north. However, the dinner choices were few and when we did get a Chinese take-aways, it was not very good. The public toilets was not clearly indicated but were clean. The township is quite rundown, due mainly to the Gorge being made passable again - it took three years! We felt sorry for the business people and also just the residents trying to keep connected with the rest of New Zealand. A couple of EV charging stations but the one outside the Warehouse needs fixing up. Across the road was one that was most efficient.Guest review bycarolineNew Zealand - 10.0

I have been to Russell a couple of times before but only as day visits so to be honest Ive only stayed in the little township itself but loved that. This time I stayed a night to attend a function. The motel was the icing on the cake because where you stay can make or break a stay anywhere. The view of the harbour below with boats anchored..you couldn't beat. I want to come back..and my friend and I intend to. It's handiness was great. Great afternoon of shopping..something for everyone & delightful 'The Grazing table' cafe for home cooked sweets with delicious coffee. Would have liked to spend more time in the fabulous looking book store..great looking coffee table books on display but I ran out of time. There is something for everyone here. Russell town can easily be walked around in a short time without stopping..but who wants to do that. It's a lovely, interesting quaint place with a lovely harbour looking over to Paihia where you go to connect to main highway..eventually. A day passenger ferry runs regularly from Paihia & to. There are other areas to visit over the hill and the car ferry over from Opua is very quick and efficient. And least but not forgotten..the fantastic Duke of Marlborough hotel and accomodation with its elegance gracing the shoreline is a highlight. I had a lovely evening supportng the Recuse Helicopters fundraising event..it was spent under gorgeous chandelier lighting with all the simple but lovely table settings. Surely a grand gentleman which began in 1827 as 'Johnny Johnsons Grog Shop' by an ex convict come good!Guest review byYvonneNew Zealand - 4.0
This was a memory trip, so it was the first time.
This was a memory trip, so it was the first time. SORRY, I had to mention the incident, but wiser to leave it. Now you wanted a report, I only mentioned it in case something was wrong and could happen to somebody else. It has gone no further. You have done well in the decorating, and perhaps we will come again CaroleGuest review bycaroleNew Zealand - 10.0

Taipa has the lovely resort and beach, but there is not much else. However, Taipa is part of a gorgeous stretch of coastline including Cable Bay, Coopers beach and Mangonui. Within a few kilometers you have all the amenities you need, plus local attractions and shopping. There is the Famous Mangonui Fish shop over the water, a couple more lovely cafes, places to buy local art and craft, a walkway and pa, a picaresque harbour and opportunities to get out on the water. Go!Guest review bybethNew Zealand - 10.0

Mangonui is gorgeous - fabulous walkway, unique art & gift shops, great eating - Breakfast at Jesse's was huge & delicious. It is also handy to all the East Coast beaches - the north is always a favourite trip down memory lane for us.Guest review byShirleyNew Zealand - 10.0

Access to main area within walking distance, area for kids to play, plenty of cabins, you had your own area, next time would get one with all facilities and preferably the first one on the right as you enter.Guest review byPaul - 6.0

The Left Bank Hotel is the jewel in the crown for this small town - a lovely place to stay. We did the Twin coast cycle ride and stayed two nights. There were some kids doing burn-outs when we arrived and it's obvious that there isn't a lot of money about. Having said that we met some wonderful locals over the two days that we were in the area, and their stories and commitment to the cycle trail were truly inspiring! When we left we decided to stop in at the Ngawha hot springs, just outside town. this is a great complex and well worth the detour!Guest review byJeremyNew Zealand - 10.0
Great beach and good location to explore the far North area.
Great beach and good location to explore the far North area. We took a bus tour up to Cape Reinga which was a real highlight and explored nearby Cape Karikari in our car. We ate our dinners at Mangonui, a 5 minute drive from Coopers BeachGuest review byAndrew
